  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

MME clutch lever

Wolf

Husqvarna
AA Class
Just installed the MME lever on my 2011 TXC 250. I had one on my 09 as well, but sold it with the bike, and thought I could do without one on the 11. Man was I wrong...I just forgot how nice that lever really was.
I have had auto clutches in all my 2 strokes (Hondas), and in my KTM 530 (long gone), and thought I would probably get one for the 11 TXC too, but couldn't get myself to lay out the cash. I remembered how nice the MME lever worked on my 09, So I installed one last weekend on my 11 and went for a muddy, rooty, rocky New England ride.
Even though this clutch works really well with the stock lever, the MME lever enhances feel and ease of lever pull to a point far beyond expectations. I can't really say enough good about it. Love it. Can't believe I took so long to install one again. The 1 or 2 finger pull is so light and easy to control, you really don't ever get tired, while retaining super positive feel, making the 250 quite a potent weapon. If you are on the fence about buying an auto clutch because you want to relieve your left hand of clutch duty, I would recommend you try this lever first.

I recently installed one on my TE511, made a huge difference in the tight stuff as the control of the just starting to engage point is FAR better. On my 511 the lever could use a redesign as it has trouble reaching over all the large switchgear. Also you have to pull it all the way to the bar to find neutral and it is still a slight struggle. All that said i would not trade it for anything. Was also considering an Autoclutch but glad i tried this. Does 80% of what I wanted from an autoclutch but costs far less and I still have perfect clutch fell. Highly recommended.

Of note...I had to trim my grip down so I could pull the lever in all the way without hitting the "grip donut". The only time I actually have to pull it in all the way is when starting the bike in gear. Also, I set the lever up to have a little bit of noticable free play, as I don't want to smoke the clutch unknowingly. I have heard that some do not do this. I moved my "switch stuff" (enduro computer etc) to the inside of the clutch perch so there is no interference. Yes I have to reach a little to adjust the computer, but that's a small price to pay. plus, I am usually late anyway, so I don't really need to adjust anything :).

Interesting, my experience on the MME was mixed; some good some bad. I liked the easier pull and shorter length, but didn't like the longer throw action and difficulty with neutral. I kept it as a spare, but if anyone is itching to try it out, I'd sell you mine for $50 shipped.
