• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Mk3 Pivot Pegs

If you do manage to find out which Hammerhead shifter tip fits the 630 lever, please let us all know (I seem to have bent the shifter tip and might even need a new lever).

The standard HH tips fit and are available in varying additional lengths from 5-20mm. They need an extra washer or two as spacers when retrofitting and the OEM tip ground off as is riveted on. The OEM tip is real crap - just bent flat steel that can easily deform if knocked and gets an abrassive edge. HH do not though make a standard lever for Husky.

As Dom said, its a retrofit job but an easy task. I fitted mine up with a spacer i made myself and the stock return spring cut down a little. Works perfect:). Depending where you put the supplied washers/spacer, you can raise the tip a little more.

hmmm...since the Pivot Pegz fitment chart has a special p/n for our bikes why should any retrofit be required? Any spacers or different springs or special instructions should be included shouldn't they? Especially considering their price.

Sorry for the confusion, the pegs slip straight on:thumbsup:. Its the gear shift tip which requires a little "massaging".

Well I hope you will eventually get them. That shop has the worst reviews possible. I previously Googled them and amazed at 100% bad reviews. Nothing positive posted about them. Plus their shipping is not cheap and since I'm in Texas would have to pay sales tax. Ebay $151 shipped for me for on the Pivot Pegz and I already bought my Hammerhead from these guys. Received it in 4 days. Has went up in price a couple bucks since I bought mine but still a good deal.

Well I recieved my package and all was good. Correct Husky Pivot Pegz and the red +20 Hammer Head shifter. Would I tempt fate again? Probably not, gambled once and going to walking away a winner. Now out to the garage to fit them.

Your setup looks like you're ready for adventure. Do you really take off outdoors without a casesaver on the chain or was it just for this pic? I absolutely destroyed the case on my old YZ when the chain broke...

I installed the MK3's and they were way too close to the shifter even for my size 9 boots. I just did the Hammerhead +20 Mod and it looks like it will solve the problem.

Unless the case saver also comes with a knock down bar I don't think they do much good. Plenty of incidents where the case saver actually caused or still allowed case damage anyway. I would rather the clutch actuator gets destroyed and drive home without a clutch than to damage the case. New actuator is $130 in parts and 30 minute repair at home versus an expensive shop repair on the case. That is if it can be repaired, if case needs to be replaced then a set of cases is $1,200 plus bearings, gaskets and labor so total would be well over $2,000 easy.

I have been waiting for this little jewel from 7602 Racing to show up. There seems to be lots of opinions out there as to if a case saver will really work or not, this has got to be better then the piece of plastic that comes stock on the bike.

Agreed - I too have one exactly like that on order and am convinced it will faciltate good protection and certainly better than none at all! Your pic also shows very nicely the HH gear lever extended tip replacement. :applause:

One question - this case saver seems to use the same locating bolt holes as the plastic boot cover? Does one fit them together??

This morning I did some grinding on my right Pivot Peg to get it to fold up properly. As delivered the peg would barely kick up at all as it hit the stock "stop" at the back of the peg mount (630). All is well now. My WR had a cut out on the back edge of the peg to prevent this problem. PP should do the same for the 630.

The HH tip that I ordered took a LOT more work than just spacers to work. Cut, chop, fit, drill, JB Weld, and several hours of work. They make several tips and what ever I bought was way off. Those who just had to add washers should put up the HH stock number for the next guy so he doesn't make the same error I made.

The 610 has the the same PP problem on the RHS - it does swivel up a bit but not fully. There is a thread with the HH tip part number here somewhere I think.

The stock cover uses separate screws to fasten the plastic cover to the stock thin metal case saver, which is bolted to the case with it's own bolts. So there are 4 fasteners total in the stock setup.

I reused the stock metal plate, layered it over the new case saver and used slightly longer bolts. Then the plastic cover fits right on, but now a tad further from the case than before. You might have to use shorter screws for the plastic cover or else drill clearance holes in the case saver.

Anyone know if the MK3's come with rubber inserts... you know, for highspeed cruising? Emailed PP to ask about MK3 inserts and it returned undeliverable :( Anyone know of a safe and sure bet to order them online and to ask about rubber inserts?
