As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!

No real issues. I fold them in for general off-road and take them off and stick 'em in my pockets for narrow single track. They come off with a single small allen wrench.04asphalt;26338 said:I like those, any issues using them? pic of them folded in?

I suppose they are still "on order"![]()

I agree and same situation for me as well. For a solid setup preferred the Fastway guards that mount to their top clamp. They are super strong and never come loose, but they have no setup for mirrors like the HDB's. I now wish I would have got set of them.Creeper;37485 said:I really do think those are the best handguard set-up on the market... for DS'ers that need a good, easy to move from harms way, set of mirrors.
If I didn't already own four sets of perfectly good handguards and was in the market, I'd pay the small premium to get the HDB kit.
That eases my pain.Creeper said:I've spoken to the owner in past months. he's working on a mirror mount kit so that owners of the more popular handguards can have a well thought out mirror design.
The mirror is a ball and socket mount... not easily adapted, so a specialized mount is a prerequisite.

That eases my pain.I may switch guards anyway. I hate the big folding lollipop mirrors I have now when hitting the trail.
Yeah I was checking those out. Different brand name, but I actually have one of the exact same mirrors mounted on all of the family's bicycles. They are great and very inexpensive. They'd be perfect if you could swing them out of the way on the fly.Creeper;37896 said:Scroll up to see my Mirrycle mirrors... small, an excellent view behind, reasonably sturdy, semi-easy off and on.
Not as convienent or as "designed in" as the HDB mirrors, but not bad.![]()

I see that. That's not a bad idea. Even if a tree takes one off it's a cheap loss. We have lots of trees.Creeper;37922 said:I can and do... not totally out of the way, but inwards, as in facing each other and "bladed" to the bike. Or, they can be removed in under a minute.
