  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Took a leaf out of PV dukes book
Took the day off and ride some great tracks around the Glass GHouse Mtns - Near Australia Zoo.
Beautiful clear and crisp autumn day Temp 18 to 20 deg C
Tracks everywhere and none else around

Previously my running too rich and lacking power at times
Older Mikuni TMX Running 380 main 35 pilot .
Adjusted power valve nut to top setting
Raised clip to second to lean mixture

Goes hard . Good power hit - rips.
Chugs up hills well.
Only occasional lean bog on and off throttle - not too bad
Could live with it as I like the top end and spend a of time there

Will a thinner needle tip and thicker at top help to reduce that lean bog or will a richer pilot be worth a try? Any specs on possible needle
Or does this just become too rich?
(Not viable to get Keihin for a while and you know what i reckon the Mikuni looks better )
Cheers RD:cheers:

i didn't know the powervalve was adjustable

Ok - Had to report that I am very happy with the way the Mikluni is now running

I was running a 30 pilot jet and had occasional bog from closed throttle
Tried a 37.5 pilot and this was too rich - felt dead .

Put in a 27.5 pilot jet and bingo - happy days .. Go figure. I thought it was a lean bog but leaner jet made it better
So crisp and pop the clutch and front wheels lifts easily in gears 1 to 3
I also adjusted the power valve bolt to be 3/4 up . Was all the way up before.
This is also better as it seems to open power valve earlier and gives more bottom end.
Not such a light switch.

Its amaizing what difference a couple of things can make to how a bike feels .
Also had a new back tyre on and the thing was trying to flip on the hills!

I had a couple of speed tests with an 08 TE250 from a rolling start and it was neck and neck and he was bouncing of the rev limiter.
It was also at least as quick as a TM 250f.
Now a happy boy:D
