• Husqvarna Motorcycles Made In Sweden - About 1988 and older

  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Mikuni carb swap

disonny

Husqvarna
AA Class
Hi All, My 76 wr360 has a gurtner carb on it. It runs ok but i want to put a mikuni on it. I've heard it makes a big difference in the way it runs. Is it worth the swap?

Never hear anyone complain about any Husky they converted to a Mikuni..go for it..

Husky John

way different application but i just swapped my friends 67 honda cl450 from dual keihin cv carbs to pair of twin mikuni roundslides. really easy to jet and the bike sounds and runs like never before. i know that there are better carbs out now but the mikuni roundslide has got to be the all time classic carb. ive only owned huskys that already had them tho.

1976 360WR like OP. Sorry for the Hijack. My Mikuni runs great up to about 1/2 throttle, starts good, idles good, crisp and fun to ride. Past 1/2 throttle she starts breaking up (like bumping against rev limiter) where should I look?

DP1/Q8 bottom clip
430 main
45 pilot

Mick, I would check the plug and see what color it is. 430 main seems a bit big, but I'm not a jetting guru.
I ordered the parts to swap to a mikuni. I think it will be a good move.

let us know how it goes...i dont think youll be disappointed, plus much easier to find jets etc..

It's likely your Main jet too bike, i'm a sea level & i'm running a 380 in my 250 & around that on my 430 & 500, with about the same pilot, alot
depends on your slide though, what it's in there? 2.0

Slide was 2.5 dremmeled out to approx 3.0. Could it be needle and needle jet? I'm about 700 above sea level. Also I've tried a 410 and didnt seem to make any difference.

Probably needle and jet. If I recall I had a round slide on a bike with that engine but it was decked so not stock. I put the carb from my 430 auto on it. Those Q needle jets seem to come in the 250 and again if I recall the needle is shorter. I never used anything but an r-2 though have bought an r-0 as the specs show it somewhere. Picture for 1986 ae430.

Does it get worse if you lower the needle? Bottom clip means high needle the way I understand the text.

I ended up moving the clip to the second from the top position and now she rips all the way through the rpm range thanks for all the suggestions.
