  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc Marzocchi 45shiver Forks Issues.

2T-munger

Husqvarna
My son runs 2008 Husky cr125. We serviced the fork oil seals and have crazy rebound now. No amount of adjusting has helped the situation.
We used Bell Ray SAE 7 weight oil.
I have looked all over the net for parts to re-valve the fork but have come up empty.:banghead:
Can any one direct me to a good source for the parts. Is the next step to switch to another fork?
What fork will match up with the Zorks 45 shiver
Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated.

Its very very likely you didnt fully bleed the rebound dampening circuit. Hence why you have no rebound dampening.

From what i remember thats a closed cartridge fork. When i serviced mine i filled the inner cartridge from the bottom on the fork. I.e. before placing the foot nut back on.

Then flip the fork over, cycle the dampening rods and fill to the oil height spec'd in your service manual.

Thank you for your replies.
It seems that my forks are open chamber forks.
I am dealing with a stripped clicker adjuster at the top of the fork at the moment.
then we will re assemble and try again with a 10 weight oil and hope for the best.
I will report the result later after we test them out.

I cannot find shims or revalving info for these forks.

So even if your clicker is wide open. The forks should not top out.

I stand corrected on the cartridge. I had the same issue years back when i serviced mine. I HAD to fill from the foot valve. I could not get them properly filled any other way after hrs of trying. Guaranteed its your problem.

As far as re-valving, i have no idea. I had a proffesional tuner deal with that.

Thanks Aviduser
I will fill the bottom first as you say.
it didn't really make sense that the fork would all of a sudden be so out of war when from an oil change and new seal and dust cap.
It has been quite a frustrating go.
I ended up taking my forks off of my husky wr 250 and putting them on his bike so he could get back on the track.
I will let you know how it turns out.
Thanks again
Much appreciated.

A couple typos in the last message.
, should read" ... so out of whack from an oil...."

and I will seek out a professional for the revalve.
cheers

Hi, i seen your posts but didnt know if i should get involved.
I have some experience messing around with these forks -
http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/sm610-fork-fix.78495/#post-653219 sorry the pictures are gone from this thread but i closed my Photobucket account.
when you drain the old oil push the damping rod in & out the full length of its stroke to push all the oil out, then when refilling, do the same but to prime them properly & get the air out. The oil is filled from the top of the fork with them at the bottom of their travel.

Hey thanks Spice Weasel
I have sent the forks off to a local suspension wizard here in Ontario. He is replacing the bushings and doing a revolve as needed . the springs are too stiff for the riders weight as well.
If all goes well I will have them back on Friday( tomorrow).
Then my son will try them out to see how we made out.
Appreciate the input.
