  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Mandatory upgrade for tc 449 on the trails and single track

Any mandatory upgrade for a tc 449 info would be nice. Is the zipty oil recirculating tank kit really that good and maybe a good skid protection and pipe protector. I've dumped my bike dozens of times and this bike keeps going and going. Jd runner and a power commander do you really need them and it worth the price. The only upgrades I have to the bike are a new lithium iron battery from shoria and bark busters.

Rad gaurds are a must and skid plate. The tuner kit for me is not nessesary I can kill myself easily on my bike without those mods.

Thanks rodger I am defiantly going to buy rad guards and a better skid plate for sure. Also a vapourtech computer aswell

I just thought that was normal. Lol honestly I haven't touched any suspension setting on my bike yet still trying to figure it all out. I'm sure I can dial it in with some help from the cafe

Isn't the motocross suspension valving beating the hell out of you ?

I don't own this bike but do have a couple 010 TC250s with the KYB forks ... These are not forks of olden days ... I ride a stock suspension on one bike on both tracks and trails and the results are totally acceptable ... Tracks the clickers get closed, trails I bust open the clickers ... Again, forks have come a long ways in this department...

If the sag is correct on the bike, meaning the springs are correct, don't be afraid of the clickers ... Just be careful fully closing or opening them up 100% as the components there are a little fragile ... Rebound usually just needs a couple click either way and the CMP ones can run the spectrum ...

Come to think of it the bike does beat me up a bit broke my wrist about ten years ago and I never did heal right. Anyways I'm think I'm going to soften it up a bit front and rear I'm 215 +or - a few pounds and I do find I'm juggling it from time to time. Sometimes coming out of a woop or a deactivation the rear suspension makes a weird sound might be the constent traction control. Always find it how funny a thread get off topic after a couple posts. Lol thanks

I love my TC's suspension in the woods...It's nice and firm yet plush and compliant, it just soaks everything up.

Thats probably because it is pretty soft for the track........... I had to click mine up a ton from stock setting to ride the track. Im only about 170ish pounds with gear.

Good for you! That is the first time I have ever had anyone say that a motocross spec suspension worked well in the woods
Maybe it's because the other bike I've been riding in the woods most recently has been my supermoto...The TC rides on a cloud compared to that offroad! Haha

I would be really surprised if you were not happy with the results of a quality offroad suspension retuning and I am sure most riders on this forum would agree.
I have the TXC 449 and it comes with the motocross spec suspension that is on the TC. I rode for a long time thinking it would break in and become off road suitable but it never did and just beat me up. Sent it to my local tuner to do his magic and it is so much better. Although I am very happy with the results. If I did it over I would send it to Zip Ty. Zip Ty has more experience with this bike than anyone. There are also other tuners who do good work on this bike as well.

Yep, we use a guy out of Hood River and he has a preference for a supple setup.

He did the 511 when my brother was racing it....almost too soft for China Hat type stuff, but still great in the woods. And he did the setup on the TXC310 that my brother is now racing..both work great.

I'm sugjesting XF or Evans coolant. These bikes will run hot on the trail. Not sure if your bike has a rad fan or not. One fan isn't enough cooling power at times for my TE 511 so I added a second fan on the right radiator.
