    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Magura Clutch on Husky 450 TE

Hi People
I got this husky 3 months back, and since i have it, it has spent most of its time in garage. Today i was shifting arnd all the other bikes in the garage, and felt my clutch on the 450.
For some reason i couldnt get any friction, so i opened up the clutch resiorvior to find there was no oil in there...i am sure when i bought the bike it was doing just fine. The clutch was pulling in and everything else....
can it be that because of just not running or being in the cold garage, the liquid just went down....anyways if i now need to refill the oil into the resiorvior, do i just top it off....or do i have to flush it....if i have to flush it.....is there any stuff here that can help me with pictures manuals etc.

anywhere that i can see how to back bleed.....pictures will be helpful.....found a couple of places online on how to do it...thanks all....i ordered the kit...the oil was $5 and the kit was $20.....well worth having it at that price....

another question is this normal?

do i need to do any rebuild etc...

I just use a pet or animal feed syringe from a farm or vet store- then attatch a piece of hose- rubber works best. but the "kit' will start you out nice. suffice the same for back bleeding.

NEVER ever use brake fluid in a magura clutch- only Magura Blood, (but I use ATF, or flork fluid, and you can get away with standard mineral oil- these aren't better or worse- but they are compatible with the system, cheaper than Magura blood, and easier to find in a jamb)

Magura Hydro clutches for some people do seem to cause many problems- for some- no problems. I don't have problems with mine but I have had a ktm and am used to maguras. I flush and bleed about once a year without a problem being there- just as maintenance.

Some have had the seal wear or tear at the slave cylinder- its an oring- and can be easily replaced- some have replaced with an Xring from 7602 racing or uptite racing, 7602 also makes a diferent piston to go with the xring, then Zipty sells a different slave- Just don't start throwing parts at it or mismatching aftermarket with aftermarket. I have not had to replace my oring in my 2009 TE450 yet and no leaks. If you find that you are constantly loosing fluid and filling your master cylinder and don't know where it went- you have a leak at that oring around the piston in your slave. assess and replace as needed.

great write up. Magura blood is rarer than hens teeth around my parts. I have drug-store mineral oil and find it a bit thick. I checked it out, and Baby oil is 100% mineral with fragrance and it's of a lower viscosity, that's what I use now. Go to a KTM dealer and get the rebuild kit, fixed mine right up.
 
Thanks guys....i ordered the kit and will go by just bleeding the clutch at this point...i will an eye on the leaks etc....if there is any i will go with the cheaper fixes and then if not go to 7602...i have bought stuff from them earlier....worth every penny :)

My clutch is lavender scented right now! +1 for the baby oil!

If I'm not wrong, it's a 9.5mm cylinder. You can take your whole lever assembly to a KTM dealer and they have rebuild kits. You can also get from Husky if you want, but KTM is a bit more common.
 
Hi guys...
so i got the magura kit...but guess what they sent me the bicycle kit...anyways i need the syringe and few pipe modification and i was ready to roll....
i did the back bleed and felt the clutch back....everything was good....so i checked for bubbles etc....there were these tiny bubbles still comming out of the resorvior at the top...but it was little bit too infrequent...

but since then everyday i pass the bike i feel the clutch, seems that by each going day the clutch feels loose again....then i pump it more and it gets stiffened up....is there still air in the system?

i have a ride this sunday, so i guess for now i will back bleed it again and then ride it this sunday...if this problem persists even after a very good flush...is there something that needs to be changed ....piston ??
i would like to know in order of the stuff that needs to be changed...cheapest things first or if everything is under $100...i might just go ahead and do the whole rebuild.
