• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Lynx fairing input

I know there are few owners of the Lynx faring among us and I’m in search of some wind protection
I would love to hear what you guys think about the wind management aspect of that fairing
I almost never ride at night so the optional HID lights are of no use to me, its just that the costal winds on the way to work making me spend more time on four wheels instead of enjoying my bike and I would like to put an end to that
I am to the point of considering buying a used BMW GS1100, one reason because they’re so big and not affected by the wind as much as my 610, but if the Lynx is good enough, then at $500 it’ll be cheaper then a second bike

Thanks a bunch for any input guys

I love my Lynx, I have always used a small windshield for putting just a big enough hole in the wind for my chest, I don't mind wind buffeting my head a little. I did get the HID lights which I regret, not worth the cost and the weight. I'd use LEDs if I re-do the lighting. I broke the original plexi shield and the one in the pic is a stock shield from a Kawasaki Versys.

Do they still make the Lynx? I seem to recall reading that they guy was shutting down... He hasn't responded to an email I sent a couple weeks back.

It looks like a huge difference in height, the 610SM OEM fairing pretty much ends at handlebar height
How does it works for you on the windy days ?

It works great, if I am getting blown around on a windy day, I can scoot back on the seat and tuck in behind the screen and I'm like a bullet!

love that 450 pic...that's things so cocked and locked for serious adventure it aint funny. ultimate DS.

Ordered a Lynx May 2nd, arrived May 9th. It works great at deflecting the wind and rain. The latter especially since there's less water covering my visor when it pours. The non-HID headlights are much brighter than the stock headlight.
However, I do have a few concerns:
1) the ABS dash was predrilled with 3 slightly crooked holes for the stock dashboard and grommets. I had to use rubber washers instead.
2) the slots for the windshield aren't even
3) the windshield while riding offroad will smack against the top of the hard fairing and nick the shield (I've since added a bit of foam tape there)
4) paint finish could be improved in some spots like around the headlights
Overall, I still love my Lynx.

Is the Lynx for the 610 precut for the digital instrument panel? The reason I ask is I have an '03 TE610 that does not have the digital instrument panel, it has an analog console.

Otherwise, I think it would mount ok... or would it? Thoughts? I don't have the tools or facilities to do mods to make it work.
