this posting is for a friend Kevin, please help out my friend if you can.he has a a 2011 te 449 with the 46mm KYB forks.Looking to lower the forks 40mm and no one makes a 420mm length front spring. We have lowered the shock 1/2" with a spacer. Vertically challenged rider needs to know! Stock front spring is 460mm long. Fork has no spacers to remove. I found 1/2" spacers at hardware store to put behind the rebound piston, so the spring is the issue. Cannon racecraft can custom make the spring for $175 but he was looking for something a little cheaper. RATE NEEDS TO BE .43K for his 135lb weight.
Also, there is a piston like stop ring assembly past the spring guide which he can't figue how to remove. There is not any visible circlips on this assembly and he can't figure out how to remove it. he has not heated it up yet but it has to come out to remove the damper shaft to put the lowering spacers in the cartridge.
Forks are the latest KYB 48U open cartridge type.
he Loves the bike but paddling up a loose hill is not effective, with his short 30" legs.thanx, dan
