  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

The guy at the shop where I bought mine told me to cut the little kickstand nub off so it wouldn't fall off the stand. As soon as I got home I got my cut-off wheel out and cut that little nub off. Now it sits on the stand and I don't have to worry about it falling over.
If you mean the nub which makes it auto-retract, mine had that removed before I got the bike and it didn't stop it falling over. It did stop the auto-retract but that's only half the battle.

I'm glad you don't have problems, but mine doesn't need the stand to retract in order for it to fall over - it can easily do that even with the stand still down. A slight (and I do mean slight) incline either to the left or right and it will fall - yes it falls either toward the stand or away from it depending on the ground. Quite some design achievement, and not very handy when you're out in the dirt. Had to lean it against a tree again on Sunday after I got fed up of pushing it around trying to find a bit of level enough ground at one stop. :banghead:

Are the stands on the new SM 610 the same as on your 450?

@High-Side. Do you have a pic of what you are referring to?

See photo in post #6. That nub off the hex head (cut off in photo) is the auto retract nub we are talking about.

I haven't seen one yet so I don't know. I believe the TE610 has a different frame to my 450 so the stand would probably be different on that at least to some extent, and the SM would presumably have smaller wheels than the TE so it might be different on the SM610 even to the TE610. I'm sure someone on this forum will know the answer... :)

Starting to crack!

Anyone find a good after market (and hopefully a tad shorter) kick stand? I've got a hair line crack in mine. Need to make a few I guess!
