  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

We have a 2011 and 2012 TE250. Getting the water in the control wiring even with just a garden hose causes this to happen with our bikes, it dries out and turns off in about 5 min. Alarming the first time it happened, but it always clears itself up. The '11 was really hard to start this spring when it was cold, but no problems after the air temp went above freezing... until The fuel pump went out. Then it would not start when hot (no pump priming noise) but started right up when cold. Got the pump replaced. I notice there are now a few threads here on this topic, seems to be a common problem. Started putting "Star Tron" additive in our fuel, this is supposed to prevent the ethanol in the gas from destroying the pump, no further issues, both bikes start fine with the e-start, but have never been able to kick the '12 for some reason.

The 310 sounds like the starter clutch is staying engaged, trying to turn the starter motor when kicking.

If you've been suffering slow starting for a while I'd imagine the starter gears are worn and this in turn will have now damaged the starter motor. Is the bike still in warranty?

I have the same problem with my 2012 TE310, every time I wash it, pull the key out and the dash stays on. I have now worked it out, just push the red button once and the dash turns off.
ive been told the starters need replacing

Hello All

It is not the fuel pump . it is a cranking issue almost like the battery does not have enough amps to turn the starter or the
starter is trying to work but being over torqued. You can hear the starter drive engage but it just wont turn the engine over.
When the bike is cool it will start the bike when hot it is like the starter is stalling

My 2011 TE310 is having the same hot start problem, but it cranks over fine with the e-start. I think it has something to do with the fuel pump and or filter. It may not be related, but my fuel light comes on even though the tank is full.

No help on what your bike needs as a fix ... But some bikes are just gonna give problems apparently ... I got one like that I don't wanna ride on flat ground and one that was made very well and never gives issues other than maintenance ... These things are just can-openers (mechanical devices) and each is different...
