    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Loose part in rear Sachs shock?

I have an almost new 2011 TE 310. Have only driven it about 5-6 hours with the original spring. Ordered a harder rear spring as I weigh 85 kg. When I took the shock out of the bike I heard a sound inside it. It sounds like something is loose inside the shock. It sounds like a metal part and every time I turn or shake it. My question is if this is normal? Do the Sachs shock have some kind of loose part inside that has a purpose (valve or something else)?

No. I'm near certain that mine didn't make any noise, and I saw nothing inside that should be loose.

Can you tell where the noise is coming from? The body, the clevis end, or the reservoir, etc?

Wild guess here, but it could be the rebound adjuster rod. Turn the rebound adjuster all the way in (clockwise) and see if it still makes that noise. That's the only thing I can think to check that doesn't require disassembling the shock.
 
I actually rebuilt my shock today, and checked. No rattling at all. I couldn't make the rebound adjuster rattle, so that was a red herring.

I have put it back on the bike and Ill run like this and see what happens. At least I have the answer from the seller on my email, so if it explodes :applause: I hope theyll give me a new one. If not I guess i shouldnt have bought their excuse :doh:. What bike and year do you have?

I have a noise from my rear shock as well, it is like a click when you compress the rear suspension and a click when it extends again. all the linkage and shock bearings are like new and the sound is coming from the shock body. It seems to work fine, I guess mine is "normal" as well:thinking:!
 
My 2010 tc250 sacks shock does same thing can not hear it while riding. I think this is a normal thing with this shock and can be fixed buy some suspension tuners. Does not affect the way shock works for me so far. I took apart my linkage also and everything was fine.
 
cannot see anything that should be making a noise within the unit other than maybe the check valve openining and shutting but should be non audible unless your oil is super thin.got an email from gas gas rider today about Les from ltr who is now recovering from a massive heart attack, not dealt with him myself but apparently a top bloke all the best Les.
 
There is an issue with those shocks and Les @ LTR knows what to do. I would call Drew @ WER Racing. They can sometimes tell you what the dealer fix is when you are far away.
 
I was at my husky dealer today and they have a 2010 cr125 there. I checked if the rear shock had the same noise as mine and it did, I am thinking that it is normal for these shocks and that we should not worry about it too much and just enjoy the ride(at least until something breaks:eek:)!
 
Back after some months. Today I have had 60 hours on the bike. Felt it wouldnt hurt to change suspension oil and look over the suspension overall. Here is what had happened to my shock. On top of the nut holding the shimstacks its a smaller nut. That 12 mm nut is a part of the rebound circuit and keeps a spring and ball in place (works as a valve). The 12 mm nut together with the ball was chaking around on their own, completely loose from the place they belonged to. The nut was damaged quiet good, the ball looked fine and the spring must have been gone up in atoms as it cant be found. I have had some problems with getting the rebound to work properly. Now I know why. Called Husqvarna here in Sweden and he had never heard of anything like this ever. Sachs dont sell those parts by them own. Had to order a complete piston rod. Luckely I dont have to pay for it. Sadely I have to cancel the plans for a competition on Saturday. My guess is that they forgot the Loctite when assembling it.
