  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

front for my 449. got a d606 on there now and hate it (washes out 4-5 times a ride). will a 80/100-21 (xcmh) fit on the 449 or is this a bad idea. 90/90 now

any other suggestions?

I'm running the 90-100 xcmh on my TXC310. It has the same tread pattern and spacing as the mid-soft but (I assume) a different compound. It is an aggressive off-road tire which works well in all conditions. I went with the 90 size to get a little smoother running on the rocks and to slow the steering just a little and to balance out the taller Pirelli rear trials tire.
The 606 is kind of a dual sport tire if I remember right - and dual sport tires don't work very well on the street or on the dirt but are a necessary evil if you ride both.

The XCMH is the best front tire I've used... super aggressive tread... works well in most conditions, best on the dirt... a bit of knob wob on the road at speed but manageable... wears well. I ride Eastslope North Cascades... mountain single track, Forest Service roads, sage steppe sandy cowtrails, two lane state highways and county roads. I put about 1k on it and replace... have gone 2k and been surprised at the hook up the tire had left.
