Husqvarna
Newbie here and would love some advice from current Husky owners. I live in Michigan and primarily ride ORV, 2-track, Fire Roads and some single track in mid northern Michigan and would consider myself an (almost) intermediate rider. My current trail bike is a Kawasaki KLX300R with FMF exhaust, all the free mods and a 36mm pumper carb. While I feel the bike is well suited for me, I would like a little more snap and also something fuel injected with electric start. So, not wanting to spend >$9K on a KTM xcf350-w, my first realistic choice has now become the 2012 TE310 or 2013 TE310R.
My biggest concern is will I be able to find parts for these bikes in a few years when I may need valves, seals, sprockets, etc? I have been searching the web for the last week and can't really tell if it is too much of a gamble to buy those years, since KTM has them from 2014 on. I am not expecting anything definitive from the forum, but maybe some general opinions or previous experiences you have had would be helpful. I just don't want to be stuck with a new bike that I can't fix or modify.
Second, considering I am still learning, would I really benefit from the advances and improvements that the 310R has over the 310? I found a new 2012 TE310 for $4500 and that sounds great to me but if the consensus is that the 2013 R is significantly better or easier to find parts for, etc, then I may consider spending the extra money.
Sorry to be so lengthy but this is an important purchase for me and want to make sure I do it right!
Thanks,
Stacy
