  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Lightening up a Te 250?

Jimmy250

AA Class
Hi Guys what are you all doing to lighten up your 4-stroke Huskies? I want to see if I am missing some tricks out there. Thanks in advance Jim

Not much the bike is pretty light to begin with.

I took off the turnsignals and the plate drop down.

I have an Arrow TI pipe...expensive but worth it.

Earth-x battery Expensive but good.

if the E-start is acting up you can yank the whole thing.
if it is tuned properly it kick starts easy.

Any other ideas?

Are you going to durty Dabbers or Hancock this year.

We should ride together maybe in Mahwah.

hmmmm- what's a "plate drop down"?

I gotta admit- a Lithium battery and a Titanium pipe will lose you a quick 6 pounds (maybe more). And if you ditch the starter (2-3lbs?) you may get by w/o a battery by using a large capacitor like the red heads, but I'm not so sure of this.

OTOH, it's not like the bike is overweight. I'm not sure how much lighter the x-light motors are, but for a TE I'd rather have a big-block I think (no actual experience)

....wait: plate drop down: license plate thingy? yeah that's an easy pound. I assumed everybody did that in the dealer parking lot.

Hey Rich I was riding with Scott Wells on Monday night and I mentioned that we knew each other from here. Great guy! He was talking about the upcoming Hare scramble Stump Jumper, My son will be there racing in the Trail Class. We are looking forward to it. He will be with my wife as I work Saturdays. My Son and I and some friends are going to the Hancock trail ride on Sunday May 15, and I want to get to the Dual sport this year as well. His racing has sometimes intersects with the rides I want to go on, lol but its worth it! Thanks for the tips as well and yes we should try to connect on a local ride!

BTW the arrow pipe does it make it louder? I hope not I would like to keep it quiet as its kinda loud already JC

Yep as soon as I got home the plate drop down got shelved!

So why don't you join MCI and ride with us in So NJ?

Arrow makes the stock pipe so it uses the stock S/A and sounds the same.

I got mine for $250 at a Halls clearance. Bike runs way better with it.

I've got a better idea for you. The 2010 TC250 stock TI pipes fits with a little wiggle and those can be had for a song. If you can bend the header a touch it fits too.

Does anyone know about Leo Vince exhaust, if I were to buy just the slip on tail section would I need to re-map?
