  • Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

    Thanks for your patience and support!

Life with my TE449

I'm assuming the 449 and 511 are the same Tuner.

My JD tuner turned up today......holy sh!t....this thing sure does unleash the beast within.
What settings are you running?
I have lost the instructions already.... They must have blown out of my jackets pocket.
What are the factory settings?
Cheers
Glenn
My settings are:
Green: 3/4 (JD original setting)
Yellow: 4/5 (JD original setting)
Red: 5/6 (JD original setting)
Green/Blue: 2/3 (one step leaner than JD setting)
Yellow/Blue: 4 (JD original setting)
Red/Blue: 5/6 (one step richer than JD setting)

Good luck and happy tuning swogjb! :cheers:

Thanks Krieg,
I will give your settings a go.
What pipe do you have on your 449 ?
I have the Akro on mine.
I'm loving this tuner already.
Cheers
Glenn

Oooops! Forgot to mention that I have the FMF slip-on installed with a spark arrestor. Sorry! :thumbsup:

How is that pipe in terms of price n performance, compared with the Akropovic that comes on the TC?

I was leaning that way in hopes since its a direct bolt-on and possibly could just ,run the stock maps and ecm.

I don't know if my shoulders need to get yanked outta their sockets any more than this baby already does on map II, so not sure I really need max power, but shaving off those few pounds would be nice somewhere down the road.

Mate.... Your settings work unreal.
I went up to 6/7 on the red /blue and it was just a bit more snappy on the throttle.
Thanks Again
:cheers:

I know this is a highly individualized thing subject to rider size, terrain, and pace, but is anyone willing to post up where they have the compression and rebound clickers set front and rear? I've been riding the "standard" settings provided in the owner's manual and find the bike way too soft. I need to get out and adjust further but wanted to know what anyone else who owns this bike ('11 TE449) has done with or experienced regarding suspension.

Hello Gillies, although we have the same bike my suspension is slightly different. I'm 205lbs and have the following settings:

Forks are off a 2011 TC449 CC.
Springs = 4.4nm
Comp = 13
Rebound = 11

Rear Shock
Spring 5.5nm and shock shorter by 4mm
travel now 643mm was 655mm
Hi Comp = 1.75
Low Comp = 14
Rebound = 9

Thanks, Spud. This is a start. I rode with my brother last weekend and tried out his bikes: YZ250 and 450X. The YZ is far too stiff, but the X suspension is sweet. Compliant, but controlled is the best way I can put it. My bike just felt wallowy and vague in comparison. The Race Tech site says my spring rates are good, so I'm hoping to firm things up with the clickers. Me: 175 pound, desert trail rider.
