As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.
Thanks for your patience and support!
Ask and you shall receive! I used a old plastic under mount running light bracket I had laying around to bolt it to. There are probably a million ways to mount this unit. It weighs next to nothing. Keep in mind that Im sure its not as bright as the stocker. Looks very clean IMO. Cant say how it would hold up off road. On road it handles stoppies and wheelies quite well!At motocrossmr, i would love to see those pictures if youd be able to upload, i figure if i couldnt find adapters for the wiring harness id just strip and plug them, great pictures by OlderHuskyRider. Im definitely gona have to see what kind of mounting options i can come up with, with some steel and a welder.
Sorry I just saw your post. Wiring was no big deal and everything was present. You could just splice the wires but I bought the proper connector. Not flimsy but has enough flex that a fall over shouldnt break anything. Those tires are Avon Distanzia's. There are a couple sizes they make that are a special SM compound (softer). I didnt want to spend the extra money but after shopping around and reading reviews, these were the only option for on road performance with good grip on gravel and dirt roads. The wheels are Warps 9's. Some people havnt had good luck with the fitment on their Huskies. My dealer really helped me out with making sure I got the proper measurements to make sure they would fit. The only issue I had was that the wrong front brake caliper was sent. They didnt know I had the KYB forks.Yeah I definitely love the look of that, very clean, sleek, and no where near as bulky as the stock one. I'm going to order one of those L.E.D. strips and try to work it out. How was the wiring on it, is everything there? And it looks like it'll be able to withstand off road abuse, it doesn't seem flimsy at all. I also noticed that you have a nice set of tires on your bike, I've been looking for a separate set of rims to mount up so I can swap them when I ride on the street, have you done that or are they just a street tire. Sorry for the million questions.
