• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

lets hear it for coffee

Awe shucks.... this is getting embarrassing. :p

Best forum I've ever been part of. And I've been on a LOT of forums.
And I too am a member of many forums, so many I don't keep track any more!

I'll be honest, I've taken the good bits from each of those and used them on Cafe Husky. :)

Couldn't have put it better myself. :applause:

And don't forget those high class, high quality Cafe Husky stickers too!

Those do get around! Yes I do try to make things as pleasant as possible, I think you fine people deserve it.

Thing is, I believe things are about as tuned up as they can be for the moment. I seriously doubt there will be any huge changes like there was 8 months ago.... although there is some back end work that needs completing.

Thanks everyone!

Yes Rajo that pretty well sums up all. Dean's gift to us is this fine forum, he puts in long days and nights maintaining this great place.
My Canadian based control room is spacious but maybe not luxuriously but we are indeed lucky to have him as our leader.:notworthy:
And I too am still waiting for even a ride let alone to borrow that little puppy.:D

You found the CH jet! Someone must have snuck in and taken a picture of it!

Thank's for the time & dedication you put into CafeHusky & the dedication & friendship you have shown to members.

Two thumbs wayyyyy up for a job & passion well done :thumbsup::cheers:

I have not been a member long enough to make any judgements (good or bad) regarding the web site, but I have met Dean in real life, and in case your wondering, he is human ! But a very good person and obviously a dedicated Husky enthusiast, which you can never have too many of. Great job Dean !

:applause: I met Dean a while ago at a ride/get together that was pretty
much all Husky riders and I can say unequivically without a doubt
Dean is indeed human.
I can only imagine the time and work that must go into starting up
and maintaining a website. Especially one that is as classy as CH.
Thanks for everything Dean, you definitely deserve some props
for this awesome site. It definitely has the feel of a community rather
than just a bunch of wannabe's spewing out snark.
Jerry

Oohhhh how I lluuuvve Coffee.

Coffee is the first thing I reach for in the morning.
I drive out of my way around 10:00 for the companionship of Coffee.
I crave Coffee mid afternoon but only occasionally indulge in the excessively gratifying ritual that Coffee provides.
After a fine meal with a few glasses of wine in me my desires for Coffee are heightened again but I resist Coffee for fear of having a sleepless restless night of sleep only to wake in the AM reaching for Coffee again.

:D:D

Great job Dean. Your work here is outstanding.
