  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Leo Vince X3 on my 2010 TC 250 (+ new carb update kit report)

Pro Class
Had an opportunity to ride the TC yesterday with the new Leo Vince and carb upgrade installed. The carb update included the new needle, leak jet, and bowl cap as well as a switch to a lower main and pilot already included with the bike. I also installed the bar mount hot start kit. The upgrade, as you might guess, was easy to install. The results, however, are a mixed bag. Let me restate what I've said since I've owned my TC... I never had issues starting it. Usually 1 or 2 kicks cold 95% of the time and 2 to 3 kicks hot 90% of the time and never more than 10 since I've owned it.

It was 85 degrees here yesterday so I got to experience some really "hot' hot starts. The bike does seem to be a bit easier to crank when hot. It usually fired on the first kick every time. Cold however, was another story. My usual method of choke out, one throttle twist, and one or two kicks is out the window. The first attempt using that method took me 12 kicks to get it cranked... almost like it was flooding. Oddly enough, even when cold, I used the new bar mount hot start (which is VERY cool BTW) on a few cold starts and it seemed to do better :excuseme: weird. The thing is still very sensitive to fuel screw adjustments and I eventually ended up at about 3/4 instead of the 1 & 7/8 suggested in the kit instructions. I intend to experiment some more this weekend and will keep you posted. I may go back to my original jetting if I don't tweak for better results.

Now for the Leo Vince. Nothing Earth shattering to report. It did make the Mid to Top transition "beefier" with a slightly stronger top end. I can't say it did much for the bottom, but there is a definite improvement when on the needle. Again, you'll have to remember, I'm an old guy who will never ride this bike anywhere near its capabilities, so if you're a racer... please take this with a grain of salt. Others may have different opinions based on how hard they ride and their skills.

So Krieg did you ride the bike with the carb update alone or was it ridden with the exhaust and it together? I was just wondering what the carb udate felt like as a stand alone upgrade. Our dealer just placed the order for my sons and he placed an ordr for the FMF slip on. I think we'll try the slip on first then ride and try the carb update later.

Scott, I'm in clip #4.

John, I installed the Leo and the kit together... probably should have tried them separately and might stick the original muffler on to see.

Dark, the Leo did not come with an ECU.
