  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc LED conversion sm125s 2004 help please.MODS?

Has anyone done an LED indicator conversion on there 125? ive got a full set to install after i lost my oem ones against the side of a wall.

I have installed the rear set but when i turn them on they stay on dimly and then turn off.
I know that if i install all four, i will get a different effect but it will only mean they still blink far to slow.

I know you can add things like resistors (i think) to the loom to regulate the current needed for the relay but i dont want to play around with too many wires.

Is there a simple relay unit i can buy to fit to the bike, they all seem to be for 510cc and larger.
If there is one, where is the relay located on the bike?

sorry if i longed that all out but wanted to make sure i didnt miss any information you might need.

Thanks in advance people.

I just want to say something
I’ve replaced my blinkers with LED’s and purposely did not add any relays or current levelers
The reason is, in my mind the accelerated rate of blinking attract more attention and ads to my safety
Are you sure you connected them right ?
The LED’s draw less power, which tricks your system to think it has a blown light and that triggers the accelerated blink rate to make you aware something is wrong
Now why do yours blink slower ?

:excuseme:

SM125? Europe?

In any event, a likely place for the relay to be is behind the front number plate or near the ecu (I am assuming a 2st has an ecu). If it were me I'd do one of these:
  • take it off and go to an auto parts store and see if they can match
  • read the number on it and look up the specs on the internet, and then try to look for an led relay
  • or download the parts manual, then cross reference those numbers (if possible).

There needs to be enough electron flow for the blinker to function, which you are not getting. And yes there may be enough to make it blink, but not enough to make it flash at a 'normal' rate, and it will flash quickly. So yes, a properly sized resistor across terminals of the relay would work as well.

okay, thanks for the replies.

@Muddy Waters, i understand what you are saying but thats also likely to attract the attention of the police, they're verry happy to pull bikers over around here (chavs and peds = wary police). Mine dont blink slower, the turn on dimly for a while and then it turns off, the unit doesnt actualy flash.

@ Coffee, yeah its europe,i received my led vision hp yesterday so i will look for the relay again.I have tried ringing huskysport (UK dealer) but the mechanic seemed very vague and gave me lots of numbers but no real help :s

I will report back any success/failure tonight.

Thanks :)
