finally got to ride my 300 for the first time in around 18 months(been 165'n it TBH & had a few parts to order/things to fix on the big girl!) last weekend. ran awesome on top but was mega rich down low. fouled a plug too after letting it idle to warm up in the morning! fuel consumption was real high although we were on a small mx track for a fair chunk of time so lots of WOT on the straights.

i set the rod on new 38mm lectron at 49.5mm from memory which is the same as my 165 to be on the safe side as it had a fresh piston in it(first ride on it). it was the rod Kelly had worked on for the 250/300 but name escapes me now, maybe 3-2M or something(chime in here Kelly)?

Question is will a full turn out, which equates to around 1mm i believe so say 50.5mm, be ok or getting into lean territory? still 25-30C temp wise & max 500m elevation(does this matter much haha). dont have anywhere to test it before actually going riding(can start it but not ride it around my area really-suburbia) so wanna be in the ballpark plus its a PIA to take tank off, adjust carb etc when id rather be riding. just dont wanna be too lean, rather be a bit rich then can adjust it quarter turn next ride if required(when i may have more time to adjust it at riding areas). thanks

I like to be on the rich side too, so was going richer until it blubbers. I actually thought I was still lean, so last ride went 1/2 turn in to @ 50mm, but that's too rich. Now I went a full turn out to 52mm to see how it starts and likes that. For me 1/2 turn = @ 1mm.
We'll see, 'cause I'm getting ready to start the beast.
. really needs a 6 speed but cant justify the spend. maybe when it has a full bottom end ill look around for one
 . Gonna' try 14/48 soon.
if its lugged all day it has a small amount around silencer end cap, 165 has a bit more near silencer/stinger junction but not absurd amounts by any means. i like the raped ape action TBH just want the bottom end sorted. keep in mind its still tail end of summer here so pretty hot, not much humidity though. mediterranean climate i believe its called(hot summers, cool/mild winters).
