  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

do you need to run the breathers up into the airbox like a normal carb for deep creek/river crossings? only short little breathers on there stock, easy enough to whack some longer ones on if need be

No but they should be shipping with long overflow tubes that go up and overt he top of the carb and back down the other side and them lots of length to under the bike. I asked them to build them this way a long time ago. If it is not that way please replace the overflow tubes with long ones and run them up and over the top of the carb.

Mine also came with the short hoses. What is the reason for having to run them over the top of the carb?

will do Kelly. got this carb off ya probably 6-8 months ago so maybe pre requesting them to put longer ones on there. no biggy mate. by running them up & over the carb will this prevent the bike snuffin out in deep water(like nearly airbox height-carb totally submerged!) or am I better still to run them up into the airbox & obviously pointing down still?

First hand experiance taught me that the Lectron as all other carbs will stop the bike from running if the vent hoses are submerged for a prolonged period of time.
I rode along a small stream/ditch and the bike died just like it was running out of fuel so I ran the breathers high and the problem vanished.
This is my setup that make the bike a submarine.

I received the short vent hoses on my Lectron. Anyone have any other photos of their vent hose setup.
Thanks

Recently? I addressed this with them long ago and should be coming with long ones. I will readdress this with them, thanks.

Not a Lectron but should be routed up over the carb (like this pic) then down about a foot below the carb.
