  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

having problems getting the minkuni carb sorted out on my 01 cr125. i ride elevations from 2200 - 5500. she won't idle. runs fine until it fouls a plug going down steep hills. what size main jet should i be running? any other tips or suggestions? if i go with the lectron, Will it solve my problems?

sounds like your pilot jet is rich. No reason why you cant get the stock carb to jet within reason and run right without fouling. All that said, yes, the Lectron is EZ to setup and seems to just run prefect every time after that.

Also as this is an older bike make sure everything else is good. Good compression (low compression fouls plugs and makes jetting hard), reeds are good, muffler is not plugged of dripping wet with 2 stroke oil, main seals are good... ETC.

I VOTE LECTRON! YOU'LL LOVE IT.

What Kelly (Motosportz) said. Check the other things first, re-jet if needed, then if you want get the Lectron. If it were me after checking the other stuff I'd just get the Lectron :D. Good Luck.

I am running a 380 main 27.5 pilot . You may want a slightly richer main than me - 400 - whats it got? Try screwing out air screw.

As a baseline my husky service manual says

360 main for 5000'
390 main for 2500' 30 pilot @ 10 c

If your constantly going up and down in elevations you can jet it for an average. But it'll never be spot
On it seems. If I get my bike running perfect then go up 1500' I have to change the plug by the time I'm back down as its too rich.

Even though I ride at a consistent elevation mostly. Im still leaning towards the lectron. Even though u can get the tmx running good. You have to fiddle with it throughout the seasons of course.

Both Of my 01's are running 25 pilot and 380 main one likes the needle in the 2nd notch from the top the other likes the 3rd, I run maxima k2
@44:1 I've never had any jetting issues once they were sorted out, I have tons of hours on these things most of my riding is in the 1000
to 2000 FT. range the fuel screw requires attention for temp. to keep it running crisp. If it used to run fine and you haven't changed oil
brands or ratios start checking for a mechanical issue.

I often change between those elevations in 10 - 20 minutes. Western nc has some good local relief. I believe I changed the main to a 320. Don't want to have to fiddle around with carbs all day. does the lectron alleviate the elevation changes?

Ethanol eats your needle jet, distorts over time and leaks by. I have had more than one go bad. Unless you have a solid jet than float level or junk float.

Can you elaborate on your hard start issues at Sandlapper, whether it was electrical or fuel related?

I believe I will trace this to a bad ground on the ignition. I washed the bike Monday and the bike started first kick every time. The wash water completed the circuit. I bet now the bike is completely dry, it will be hard to start again.

A gremlin like that can be aggrevating to say the least. I didn't think you would have anything bad to say about the lectron.

gonna pull the trigger on the lectron. going on a 01 cr125. should i get the 36 or 38? also, am i gonna have issues with the throttle cable?
