• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Lectron cutting out sometimes going downhills

Love my lectron. Awesome in so many ways. But there is a minor issue "sometimes" not always. Seems to mainly happen when pulling the clutch in and idling going downhills, sometimes it just does this blub blub blub then dies. Then fires right up Everytime afterwards. Is that the float? and if so wouldn't it ALWAYS happen going downhill? because it doesn't. Just sometimes. What should I try adjusting?

One of my lectrons used to do the self same thing just about everytime I dropped down a real steep part of my local riding spot.
Tried lowering the float height and this did nothing to cure the problem but a 1/4 turn leaner on the rod solved it for good

Thanks I will try that. My friend was saying float too but I would think if it was that it would be all the time so my gut instinct was telling that wasn't it

Yes, try slightly leaner on the rod. If that does not work Lectron sells a little small inexpensive part that keeps fuel in the rod area better for extreme cases like drag racing on alcohol. Maybe this would be a good solution for extreme angles of decent as well.

I sometimes have the same problem on steep tight hilly switchbacks. If i feel coming on I will clutch and rev if possible. Seems like it needs to clear its throat per se. It happens more if I get stuck behind a pokey rider.

Try leaning out the metering rod and increasing the idle. Lectrons like a slightly faster idle than a standard carb.

Later,

Yeah, I am running a pretty high idle. Usally turn it down if I'm running high speed sandy tracks. Turn it up in AA enduro type hilly switchbacks.
