  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I'm at that point,I am sick of My torque limiter collec tion
This is enough b.s.for Me, from new the torq limiter
Last half a season, then I replaced 4 of them and
Got an upgrade from zip ty an aluminum box and a
Step drill bit...lol! Those torq limiter last about 15 minutes
300$ a pop, this is enough!

That sucks man, sorry to hear it. 5000 plus hard off road miles on my 511 and not a peep from the limiter. I don't see a ton of people having issues with them but I do know the fast guys at ZipTy destroy them Dez racing. I guess they are good enough for most but fail at the extreme end of racing. Do you flattrack yours or whats the history? If I missed it just point me to the threads as I want to stay informed.

Also I'm sure you are done with it and spending money but have you spoke with Tinken lately? There might be a permanent fix in the near future.

Dalton is on a factory Yamaha blu cru , I was going to help other kids getting a ride
With this bike but everytime I get it going it's frustrating and costly ,I would like to sale it
But I wouldn't sale it to my worst ennemy.

From what I understand, the torque limiter failures are more common when running 800cc of oil and without the valve cover breather from Zip Ty. This happens because the lower oil level allows hot gases to blow through the torque limiter and out the crankcase breather. Install the valve cover breather ($47), block off the crankcase breather, fill to recommended oil levels (1150cc), and your torque limited has a much better chance of survival. 1,500 miles, no issues for me. Plenty of others with higher mileage than that with no issues.

How much/type oil do you run DT1? Who is installing the torque limiters? Have you checked to make sure it's not something else (lack of oil/clogged oil spray nozzle, tranny issue)? Source of parts questionable?

Who you going to sue, and does your lawyer and the rest of your group have patience? Your gonna need it, because if you haven't isloated it to an exact cause or had a certified mechanic declare it un-fixable your pissin up a rope in a strong breeze.

Also I should hope you aren't dragging ZipTy through the mud on this one. That would be a fools errand since they have worked tirelessly to bulletproof that engine and improve on design flaws. You won't get much sympathy around here if you do...:banghead:

You are right, but he's gotta give some more to go on before getting my shoulder to cry on. How could you possibly fry one in 15 minutes? The oil is just getting hot and even if it was sitting in nothing but air it would still last longer that that.

Seems like a freak problem or a bad wrench. Just think it would be a better use of time and resources to actually fix the problem rather than lash out at a company that doesn't own the brand or designs anymore, then make it seem like a great resource (ZipTy) didn't do anything but take his money. You and I both know that's not the case.

I always was the one to crack the bully kids' nose who picked on my friends for less than a really good reason.

Yep, ~lawyers are free in these type cases ... That's why so many cases are brought forth ... :) ... But depending on the case, he's gonna take the winnings :)... Apparently you did not know this? If not, you are probably gonna find out alot more about lawsuits that you did not know ... WARNING: Bmw knows lawsuits I think :)

Interesting adjective you used to describe your lawfirm :) ... Most people would have followed it up with 'New York' instead of Philly ... Your choice though ...
Lets see...You probably gotta sue everyone involved ... The whole line from store to manufacturer ... That's the starting point of the fun ...

I have a jewish lawfirm from Philadelphia that won't charge
Anything till we won the case if interrested to join our group
Inbox me.

Is your council telling you to drum up business for them in this manner? Are you going on Opera and telling this story next?

Seems to me that he's trying to drum up co-plaintiffs to help share his legal expenses if he wins. Personally, I'd much rather see a law suit that got people covered for their time and money spent fixing the TE Oil in the Airbox issue. That, to me seems waaaay more common than (and actually preventative for) Torque Limiter failures.

Geez Ray, this is third thread this week where you talk down to people and say rude things. Its fine to disagree (I mostly do to with this post) but no need to make it personal. Time for a bike ride.

Look through his history of posts and you will see he is pretty level headed and upbeat. This is obviously an issue, he is pissed, and he does not have a history of doing this here at all.

Really? I thought I was enlightening him... Sorry, but I'm not privileged to anyone on this websites lifes' history :(

Anyway, Lets get back to suing the Husqvarna Company and our buddies who ride and make a living off these bikes, OK?

Thanks for giving me the OK to ride... It was already planned and I'll name my next ride report for you :)

And just a thought, but would someone please just do the right thing and lock this 'lawsuit' thread... Just nothing good is gonna happen here. The guy got his message out, OK?

^^^ And, this in no way is a bash against ZTR. I've always felt that Husky should have done a recall and flipped the bill to fix the issue. ZTR were the only brave soles to step up with a fix that actually works.
