    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

KYB Shock springs on a SACHS & valving ??

1. Rumor has it KYB shock springs will fit on Sachs shock body. Can anyone confirm/deny that claim? I don't have access to one to compare side by side. Looking to go from stock 5.4 to a 5.6.

2. Also wondered if it would be necessary to revalve the Shock in going to a 5.6 from said 5.4, or if the difference was marginal enough it wouldn't make that much difference.

That's the news I was hoping for. Any thought on revalving with such a minor change in spring rates?
 
Yes, works perfect. I used a titanium kyb spring on my Sachs shock with no problems. Good luck.
 
One word of caution. The 2 stroke (at least the pre 09 models) have a slightly shorter shock. I tried a ti oem Yamaha spring and had to go to a tire store to use a strut compressor to get the spring on. It was about 1/4" too long to go on and off.

THREAD REVIVAL!

I just bought a 5.5 Ti spring from a 2007 YZ450 for my 2012 husky - can anyone confirm that you need to pre-compress the spring to install it on the 2012 Husky Sach's shock? The guy above mentioned that he had to do this on the pre-09 models.
 
I have a Ti KYB spring on mine and have used a number of KYB spring without issue, as long as they aren't progressively wound.

Progressively wound springs are typically smaller on one end and won't work with the stock spring seat.
 
You will just have to try it and see if you can get the spring started. I had a Yamaha spring on one of my Huskies that was longer but I was able to use it. A word of caution on the Ti springs, my 2010 X-light motor would rub the larger ti spring I had right on the back side of the motor. Titanium will not put up with this and will crack. So just check your bike on the stand and make sure there is no place for it to rub the motor. Otherwise have fun!

Valving should be fine going from a spring rates, worst case you may have to move a few clicks on your settings but I would doubt you notice it.
