• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

KTM Rumored to Buy Financially-Challenged Gas Gas

Could also be like when microsoft threw Apple a life line in mid 90's too. They didnt want to be hated or have goverment after them so they actually wanted a little competition so they wouldnt be blamed for this and that

M$ was also selling $600MIL or was it $300MIL worth of APL software per yr then .. Lose APL and bye-bye sales ... I forget the exact numbers that were posted at that time ... M$ might not have ever conceived at that point in time what was going to happen in the future or if they did conceive it, they dismissed it ... BillG wanted competition? I could not say that with a straight face. I can't even write that statement. And I do not mean to belittle BillGs' work currently. He's now, hitting his stride in the betterment of his fellow man. Of course his wife might have a hand in there also ...

Exactly. The wr250f can't be plated in the states due to some bogus verbage on the titles. That is why you see so many folks saying the Euro dual sports are so much lighter. See? We have the Euro bikes and then we have fat porky bland Japanese bikes. Not much comparison really. Euro's are king for offroad in the USA.
Sucks to be you guys :)

Sucks to be him. In Colorado i can get whatever i want plated lol
We live behind the pink curtain here in Kommifornia. Huge govt machine that over taxes and over regulates everything. If it wasn't for the AMA and other grass roots groups there would be no open areas to ride something like a new WR at all. It's so bad here that we are often amazed when a new bike comes out and is green sticker legal so we can at least ride them all year off road.

Don't even get me started on how they want to preserve land from use so they can doze it all flat in a few years and install solar and wind farms.

Now that I think about this I say SP should. KTM put bng on the Burgs' and called them Husky's sooo if they get GG I could get bng on the pre 2013 Hushy platform.

Bng=bold new graphic

It can only be a good thing for GG if SP steps in.To see Husky at the top it game winning races is a good thing. if SP had not stepped in Husky would have been in the same boat as GG is now.

KTM officially announce they have no intention to buy Gas Gas. So what now for the Spanish manufacturer?
In an official document, written in Spanish and signed by both KTM AG Director Hubert Trunkenpolz and Cesar Rojo the Director of KTM Sportmotorcycles Spain, KTM have announced that they have ‘no intention to acquire the brand Gas Gas’.
With speculation growing within Spanish media regarding the options open to Gas Gas as it seemingly struggles to raise the finances needed to pay off its debts, it’s written that the company’s debt stands at around 24 million Euro. A reported immediate payment of five million Euro is needed in order for the debt to be refinanced. This refinancing of the debt (apologies if weve said the word debt a few too many times already!) is needed in order to reactivate production at the factory.
With KTM keen to distance themselves from any possible investment or buy out options regarding Gas Gas, little is known about what Gas Gas’ options are or the timescale they have in which to find investors in order to repay the monty they owe.
Here’s hoping they’re able to dig themselves out of hole they’re in and resume normal day-to-day manufacturing activities.

The below is a direct translation of the official KTM letter…
In reference to the rumors of the last several days which continued in the form of articles published in certain media, we in KTM AG would wish to make clear that there is no intention by our company to acquire the brand Gas Gas.
KTM AG group is for the time being fully dedicated to its two brands, KTM and Husqvarna, extending the current model range, while maintaining the high level of innovation and developing a large number of projects planned in the short and medium term in the enduro, motocross and street segments, totally disregarding the incorporation of new brands to the group.

wrr, which he was referring to is over 300 lbs wet. MX bikes are relatively close in weight but the real seperation between Japan and Euro begins when we talk street legal bikes.
Actually getting say a ktm 350 four stroke street dot official like dirt bike isn't always that easy. They probably have one that needs a kit and comes with even less warranty. The kit doesn't work out for folks everywhere either. You can put your order in for next year. Another real separation is in the warranty and the ability to bump it out farther.

Trunkenpolz, KTM is not buying GasGas that much we know, but what about Peirer Ind.? the 100% owner of Husqvarna and @ 52% owner of KTM (if I have my numbers correct).

But business wise WHY would be the next question.......I don't think Peirer Ind likes the Latin way of doing things.
