• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Knighter back to 6 spring clutch!

Apparently he has had enough of that 1 spring abortion. He tweeted he is back to a 6 spring and a auto clutch today.

Really? KTM was hanging their hat on that thing, leave it to knighter to call BS on a BS design ( remember when he walked away fom a pile of cash called the G450x?)!

I expect to see all the factory guys go to 6 spring. Why do companies feel compelled to fix things that aren't broken. That's why I dont buy first year bikes.

I think Knight would like the 449 a lot more than the G450X. But it's probably too late to get him to try it...

....Why do companies feel compelled to fix things that aren't broken..

That's how things evolve. I'm not a KTM fan but always like to see companies try different things. The Husky linkage, the YZ450 motor, Husaberg motor....all trying new things. Interesting time in dirtbiking.

Not just an "Auto" clutch, but a "Rekluse " Auto Clutch. Al and his team, up in Idaho, never stop their quest to make riding a dirt bike more fun for David Knight or slow guys like me. Rekluse owns "EnduroCross" next goal the WEC.

Interesting -- I have seen Mullins was having trouble. Wasn't sure it was the clutch -- but can see that it might be an issue.

The magazines LOVE the clutch though. Very interesting and goes to show you the top guys need different stuff than us average Joes. Love my Rekluse too.

If you have ridden with the new clutch, it would be hard not to fall in love with it. The action is so light it is amazing. The only thing out there that can compare is the AJP unit on the Gas Gas. Still, not totally surprised that top racers might need something tougher.

KTM East coast guys are having plenty of issues trying to get the Dungey bike to work. On the outside it looks more or less like the XCW, but really a completely different motor and FI system. They tried racing it with zero development time, so no surprise they are having issues. Looks like Mullins and Buttrick are back to the twin cam bike for GNCC. I think Russell won this weekend on the 350.

Thinking of Knighter, or most other top guys for that matter, I think most of us would find their bikes pretty miserable to ride. Different worlds.
