    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Knee guard recomendations?

I'm looking for knee guards that will work with MX boots, and be comfortable while riding and walking. Any recommendations?
 
I have some 661's that are short enough to not be in the boot. Don't even know they are on. I have dumped it a couple times at not so fast speed, and they protected well enough. Kali has some similar, may even check what EVS has. These are not the long plastic shell style like soccer shin guards. They are mostly neoprene with plastic knee cap cup.

The Fox Short or Fox Pro look great. The Pros are similar to the 661s I have.haves

Did you notice the differences in type of protection and prices? Some devices are designed for riders with already weak knees. You'll have to decide on what level of protection you are really wanting here. I just use the cheap stuff that will protect my knee caps from banging really. I'm not interested in the expensive types that are stopping your knee from being twisted and all that protection. The rider (me) is trying to protect himself as much as possible, always, on every, every ride. Good luck and ride safe.

I put a bug in my daughter's ear. She'll relay the message (including sizing info and the closest shop that is a Forcefield dealer. Hey, maybe my wife will see that R1200GS that I need while she's there. After all, I've been a good boy.

Knee guards are a must. I saw a Team Honda rider come in at a night race once with a 1" thick branch under his knee cap. No he was not wearing knee protection of any kind.

A special note is that knee guards are obviously not knee braces. Although the Leatt guards hinge and function like knee braces, they are not. Not that I didn't know the difference, but after dislocating my left knee two weeks ago with Leatte guards, I will be purchasing EVS knee braces. :o
 
I would pass on the EVS and go with the Asterisk. I have had the Asterisk for 3 years with no issues. My buddy got the high end EVS and they are falling apart without him ever going down.

Also Asterisk will rebuild/refurbish you braces for very cheep when they do wear out.
