• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

knee braces and pant choice

I wear the asterisk cell braces. recently upgraded to the ultra cell. problem with these is that they are bigger in circumference and there are too many knobs and adjusters on the outside, the pants liner gets caught and rips. went back to the original cells.

Been happy with Virus 3/4 compression pants as base layer ( http://virusintl.com/shop/men/compression-tech-pants-cool-jade.html ) under knee pads and Klim Baja and Chinook pants.

I might need to try these 3/4 length compression pants. I wear Under Armor compression pants currently, but they are HOT (they are a winter-type for skiing, but I repurposed them to keep my Don Joy brace from tearing my knee skin off).

I'm wearing Klim Mojave in the boot pants, and there is lots of room for the brace. HOwever, the leather panel is separating at the seam where my brace rubs. I'll need to get it sewed and maybe sew on a second leather patch that extends further foward onto the knee cap area.

Under armor makes 2 types. Cold gear for cold weather and hot gear for hot weather.

Today in 70 degrees weather, I did not even feel them on

I wear Pod 300 with Klim over the boot pants and fit is good , the liner snags the velcro straps once in a while when getting dressed .

I wear a pair of mountain biking knee warmers under the braces to prevent rubbing and have no trouble with them being to hot .

My Husqvarna enduro pants didn't rub through, but my braces rubbed the graphics and paint off of the sides of my bike through them a couple of years ago while running the OBDR. They have nice thick leather inner knees.

I go from skin to either LDComfort leggings or EVS thigh-high socks (summer) or UnderArmour (winter) leggings and then my EVS guarded braces or MSR guards.
