  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

250-500cc Kick stand replacement.

Blair7

Husqvarna
AA Class
I managed to lose my stand while riding on the weekend. Went back to look for it but it was roughly a 50km loop and it was getting dark so no luck there.
Just wondering if anyone has got an aftermarket item they would recommend?
Cheers,
Blair.

full throttle husky in brisbane has australian dirt bike wreckers (phone 0738081718) out the back, thousands of husky parts in stock, freight to newcastle wouldn`t cost much

what the heck is the deal with lost kickstands? this is not the first time I hear about this..do I need to zip tie my stand up before enduro race this weekend?

Make sure you have a locking nut (nylock) on the pivot bolt. I run kickstands on both my Huskies and haven't lost one in something like 4,000 miles of offroad riding.

However, I have started using an o-ring to bungee the WR's kickstand to the subframe, just as a safety backup, keeps it from flipping down while riding and ought to hang onto it if it falls off. Lots of KTMs come with a bungee like this stock, but I see many guys not using them.

I do two things:

1. Cut a 2 inch wide strip of inner tube and zip tie (2) to the sub frame. Slip the kickstand in the loop before race and it stays up.
2. When I took a hacksaw to the bike dropper kick stand bolt, I also drilled the bolt for safety wire/cotter pin. So, with that safety wired, there's no way to lose the nut, I would have to either break the kickstand or the frame tab to lose it.

I really don't use it much except in the garage, so I've thought about going to a triangle axle stand and dropping the kick stand completely. If not for the shipping, I'd consider selling you mine. It looks like you should be able to find one pretty easily down there, but definitely think about the above as it will help a lot. It's a floppy stand.

Sorry for the high jack but what is the modification to make the kick stand stay all the way down not the dumb ass auto half way up stock one on my 2013 WR

Take a hack saw and cut the nub off the end of the bolt. Basically making it a regular bolt.

thats all ?? do you keep the spring spacer or hook the springs direct to the post on the frame

Yep, that's all. You can leave the elbow piece on there. It's a 2 minute fix. Takes about as long as I had it in my garage before I bumped it and barely caught it before it fell.

If there's a kickstand for sale here ill buy it! Also lost mine in the woods and all the hardware with it.... Crap design from Husky IMO

why did they stop putting the kickstand on the swingarm instead of the frame? the kickstands are really reliable on the older huskies..

I agree with you WR Chris! I have a brand new 2011 250WR 2 stroke. My kickstand FELL OFF during my break in ride. All I found was the bolt on the ground. Very disappointed. If you find out how to replace it..I would love to know. Thanks Chris

I was riding my 09 today at a track with some jumps that would boot you up pretty high, in to a flat landing. My buddy was behind me and said my kickstand dropped 1/2 way down a couple times. I went to my tool box and got a spare pipe hanger spring and added it to the other spring. Works great and keeps it tucked under nicely.

Can you post a photo of the spring and set-up?

I'm fooling around with cut inner tubes to hold mine up.

Thanks

Mine also fell off just shortly after getting it. Luckily a buddy behind me saw it fall off. I just put a regular bolt that I had in my bolt pile and haven't had any issues with it in almost two years.

Update: I've only had my bike ~3 weeks now, so I went straight to dealer and talked to the service mgr. He was bummed to hear my situation, and with no fuss, he made a warranty claim for a new kickstand assembly. I really didn't think they would help me..but I was very impressed. Don't know, but I think I have a 6 mo.warranty. Also..I got some Loctite 242 blue, to drop on as many bolts as I can
