  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Howdy, Just finished the race tech lowering kit for my 2012 te511, came out great, but now a couple of questions, I am going to have to cut my kickstand, is it regular aluminum? also ,I see a lot of you "cut off the nub- button so the kick stand doe's not auto. retract. anything super special about this mod? I will post pictures when I get the kick stand finished. The seat height is perfect now!!

I cut my knobby thing off, It just stops it flingin back up. Its alright if you always forget to kick ya stand up but other than that i found it annoying.

How much did it lower it by? If its more than thickness of the foot of the stand then you'll probly need a new one (aftermarket?)
Go and measure other husky bikes for the lenght of there stands.

After I lowered my TE 250 by 2", I carefully cut the foot off the bottom of the kickstand. Then with the bike on level concrete, I cut the kickstand shorter by 1/2" at a time setting the foot under the shortened stand to get the right length. After getting the angle on the bottom of the stand to fit flat on the kickstand foot, I had it welded back on for $15. It works fine.

I know this is an old post but came across this handy part and just passing the info on.

I just bought a new 2012 TE511 and I like it but at 54 and 5'9" getting a leg over the saddle is a challenge on flat ground let alone on uneven terrain or hills. Can you tell me more about the lowering mod? Did it significantly lower seat height? Does it affect the traction system unique to these bikes? Did you don't yourself or have it done and what's it gonna cost me? Thanks.
