• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Kennedy Meadows: Jul 5-7 2013

Staging is out of the Elks Club campground. day 1 lunch is at Triangle store and day 2 lunch is Jones store. Looks hot in Oakhurst so I am hoping for the cool mountains.
Anyone have an idea on Kennedy Meadows temps?

yeah, from what I read in the flyer it is mostly dirt with some paved to get gas and lunch. The flyer in my first post has ride details.
Still not too late for Kennedy Meadows, very tempting but if I rode 2 weekends in a row the wife would object. Between work and obligations I do not get too many weekends away from the warden:D.

Sounds like,,if your riding a mix you'll hit miami, and either ride the south side of chowchilla mtn or ride trails north of chowchilla mtn and drop into ponderosa basin and out to hwy 49 to triangle store,,either ride on the trails is nice...

Ride Oakhurst,,its great and if you feel so inclined to break away from the group on the last day,,i can give you exact directions for the ride into Yosemite,,like i said i know those mountains like the back of my hand...

Kennedy Meadows is awesome! Would love to go but I am committed to a ride the following weekend out of Oakhurst Ca (on the other side of the Sierras!). Details here if interested.

Thats a good cause... but just FYI... I never ever plug my buddy rides in other peoples threads. And I would never ever never ever promote any paid event in someone else thread. It's just better juju to start your own thread if you wanna promote & discuss another ride.

Next thing you know the thread is completely derailed... as this one now is.

no derailment intended, have a good ride and take some pictures and write up a report for us not going!:(

You bet... have a GoPro mounted front and back... I'll post up a video as soon as I can get it assembled !

Regards... Jeff

I remember driving Nine Mile in the mid 80s, when it was dirt. Things were about the same at the top, as far as pavement is concerned. Camping gear....not so plush back then.
Love the XR and Toyota! my first Dual Sport was a '88 XR600 I bought in '94 (i think) for $800.
