    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Keeping multiple bikes?

On the other hand, I have a pretty nice '05 RMZ450 4speed that I could care less about and will take the first 2 grand I can get! On the other end, I wouldn't sell my '12CR144 for the 5 grand I paid for it new, no way. The moto wins keep stacking up and it's worth so much more to me than money.:thumbsup:

When I was looking for a WR450F, I wish that I could've found one for the low price that other people are willing to pay for mine! :)
 
Ha I totally have been wrestling with this myself. My 09 300 just won't die. I was trying to kill it to justify buying something new. Been salivating for a new 501. Problem is selling it I will never ever get what I paid for it. Plus all the $ ad dons. I know if I buy a new 501 it will just sit. This one guy had some great advice for me going forward. He said buy like a ktm/husky 500/501 ds. You could rack up 1000's of miles on these bikes and sell a couple years later for about 3/4's what you paid for and buy another one. That's what I intend to do as my next bike. So sick of being these things and having them worth nothing two years later. Those ktm 500's command top dollar userD.I am sure the 501 will too.

My WR actually has a title. It had a dual sport kit when I bought it, and has all of the street legal parts. There aren't many areas for a dual sport in my area though - it's either woods or tar roads. After riding the WR on the road a few times, I quickly removed the street parts and hugged my CBR600.

I try to keep 4-5 in top working condition so I have choices on ride day. But in the end I have too many bikes. 3 would do. The issue is which three :D I want to keep them all. Many of them I resurrected from near death and through the process of reviving them feel they are part of the family and hard to let go of. And EVERY bike is fun. Heck two of my favorites made the 10 worst bike lists ha ha ha (TE511 / WR500 yamaha)
 
I have 2, husky wre 125, and yamaha xt 125, husky takes 15 mins to warm up, 30 miles on a gallon, 70 mile range, goes through brake pads pretty quick, yamaha takes ten seconds to be allright to ride, 200 mile range and 110 miles on a gallon. Sense would say just use the yamaha instead and to save money, but love for husky is too strong
 
I can tell you that I almost dumped the IT or parted it out several times. Now that it's back in action, I'm very happy with keeping IT. I can honestly say that if I had the space and the money, I'd be in Kelly territory for sure. Can't tell ya how many great deals I've come across over the last couple of years where I had to remind myself I don't have the room for another bike. It seems the current limit is 1 bagger, 1 crotch rocket, and 3 dirt bikes with one being a parts IT to support my runner.

I really would like to get a dedicated race bike within the next year or so to preserve the TE449 for play and DS duties. So I'll have to probably disassemble the parts bike and throw it in the attic or at least store the frame outside.

Eventually I would like to relocate and have a nice big shop. Then I can have all the toys I can afford.:banana:
 
I really wish I could turn back the clock and keep the Yami RT1 I bought running for $50, The RD 400 that took 20 min to get running for $200 and the '71 XS 650 That ran perfectly but needed a bath for free. Had 5 bikes in the garage at 1 time and no room to walk.
Time to start all over!!
 
I have three bikes. Two were/are for my boys to ride. Now they're grown and moved out -hardly ever ride anymore. So now I get to set them all up for me! :D
 
I have 4 bikes, two of them are to get youngsters started riding. I let them ride my yz125 or my Suzuki rm144 a few times and if they show an interest and start improving I either sell one to them or they will go find something they like better and buy it. I ride them all but my 09 wr250 is the best fit for me. My son likes the 2011 yz450 best although now he can ride any of them better than me.

Bottom dollar on my yz125 is $2,500 which means I'll probably own it forever unless I give it to my future son in law. My rm144 will be sold for $1,700 soon so I'll be on to another project. I think I will be worn out before my wr250 and although I keep trying other bikes I haven't found any I like better.

I'm currently @ two bikes. A 2T trail bike and a dual-sport. I'm trying to work a deal on a nicely farkled used '15 FZ-09 street bike. I'm relinquishing my beloved 4x4 pickup to my 16 y/o son as soon as he drives. I figure I'll commute on the FZ until I have enough saved up to buy myself a new cager -- or when I get tired of commuting in the rain -- whichever comes first. Although, I've been asking myself quite a lot how much I really need my dual-sport bike?? I haven't answered myself yet. And it still gets ridden from time-to-time, however once I have the FZ, will it get ridden all that much? Don't know.
