    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

How do you folks keep your old bike after buying a newer one?

I have an '06 Yamaha WR450f. It is stripped down and set up for singletrack/trail riding. The big WR does everything pretty good - as good as that bike is capable of doing. It is a good bike. But, since buying my '14 FC250, I'd rather give the Husky all of my attention. The litte FC is pretty much better at everything. It isn't even really a comparison.

I look at the WR450f and feel bad. It just sits there. I would sell it, but nobody ever wants to give you what stuff is worth. I worked hard to pay for that bike and don't want to give it away.

How do you justify keeping your old bikes?
 
ha, post this at the vintage section. we have lots of bikes. yes part of it is most people will never pay what a bike is worth, after you put alot into it setting it up. having a back up bike is a great thing if you can afford it. in case something breaks, or as a loaner buddy bike. im kind of into the brand so i like having several husqvarnas hanging out in the garage.
if you really are never going to ride it then you should sell it tho.
 
I have a bunch of bikes too.:rolleyes: My vintage racer is down with a thrown main bearing, and one of my more modern dualsport bikes has yet to be looked into for excessive smoking. All the other are in perfect shape, but two of them are "out of season" for riding in the local public riding areas until October 1st. The trials bike and the mini bike are too hard on my knees. So right now, that leaves my street bike, an older two stroke enduro and my TE 450 ready to ride for the summer.
 
Hi , my mane is jimmyc and I suffer from MBS (Multiple Bike Syndrome).

I really don't remember when it all started. It was like, all of a sudden I was afflicted with it and I couldn't stop. I realized it just was easier to accept.

You know, some day I feel like a nut and some day I don't.
 
Interesting topic, just yesterday I was asking myself the same thing.

3 bikes, van, car, small trailer.. I certainly do not need them all, but each serves a purpose - especially for loaner bikes to trade in kind for other things. Fingers crossed that later today good things will come on a small home project.
 
I always get a chuckle when people say " Nobody will pay what its worth". Because , of course, ANYTHING is only worth what SOMEBODY will pay for it. If nobody will pay what you want, it isn't worth as much money as what you are asking. The difference between the two adds up to "personal value" and is the reason I still own my '04 TC450. What could I get for that heavy 'ol pig? Probably about a grand. No way I'm taking that for it, I'll keep riding it 2-3 times a year on the ice till it pukes its crank everywhere. Lots of fond memories and bones that don't quite line up from that bike. On the other hand, I have a pretty nice '05 RMZ450 4speed that I could care less about and will take the first 2 grand I can get! On the other end, I wouldn't sell my '12CR144 for the 5 grand I paid for it new, no way. The moto wins keep stacking up and it's worth so much more to me than money.:thumbsup:
 
yeah the problem is classic motor bikes . the only solution is MORE bikes .
between my farther brother and myself there is more bike than fit on the avatar lol

I have to enjoy riding my old bike as much as my new bike... to justify keeping it.

My 310 sat for a good while after I got my Sherco and I was thinking same thoughts as you.

So, I loaded them both up and went to a ride park. Rode them back to back and never thought once "gee I wish I was on the other bike". That decided it for me.
 
I have come to the conclusion that I don't want to sell bikes any more, as long as I can keep them running and there's room in the garage.

I haven't sold a single bike yet that I didn't wish I had kept.
 
Haha, you folks are awesome!

I think i'll just keep the old blue turd. The forks are needing maintenance - maybe i'll swap some YZ forks on instead? The stock forks on that WR are the worst that I've ever ridden.

I regret selling everything.

I was never home. I knew my health was going soon so I rode hard.

Now the new 3 bay garage is being planned. With a second floor and elevator. One more time.
