Hi everyone,
As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.
When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.
Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.
Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Nope, think he will be fine. Complaining more about his collar bone and left knee.

Just for compression info, 25-30% compression/crush of my L1 in 1979 and have not had any real issues, although I was warned of impending issues. Strength and flexibility are key. Glad to hear the "off meds" thing, the junk is needed but best to be off the junk asap! Thanks for the update K, Get well soon Jake!

Just wanted to update this thread. I went through the thread and read all the comments again, this time off the pain meds.
I laughed out loud at my post from the hospital on my phone, some of the words weren't even right.Thanks to everyone for the well wishes, it really helps. And to Kelly and the Ben's for keeping the thread updated and coming to visit me in my comatose state. I had to have reminders of who came by the first week, it was a bit of a blur.
I went back to work on Wednesday, just short of a month off work and work is busier than we have been in 3 years. The worst possible time for me to be off for a month, good news is they are glad to have me back.
As far as injuries go my back has bothered me very little. My knee hurt for a week or so, the gouges in my knee pad from the foot peg tell that story. My collar bone was broken, but they didn't know that from the first set of xrays I got at the ER. I got a second set done 2 weeks later that showed a nice break in it. Not sure why it doesn't show up in the first set of xrays. I feel about 75% now, my shoulder is doing some strange popping and is still sore most of the time. Going back to work the first day was tough on the shoulder, even at a desk job. I never, ever thought my riding would cause me to miss work for this long unless I had two broken arms or something. I have been with my current company for 12 years, and missed less than 12 days total to this point. I am still frustrated by being off as long as I was.
I have had some short term disability for a few years that I got to use, it kicked in after 2 weeks, so I only missed about 8 days pay. The Dr bills should be rolling in soon, the ambulance bill showed up already. My out of pocket max for the year is $4500, I think i will hit that. Looks like I won't be getting a new Husky any time soon!
Thanks again everyone for the words of encouragement, I hope to be hitting the trails sometime in September. Not sure I will race MX again, time will tell.

OK and good to hear you are getting better ... Little strange on the collar bone but mine got snapped in 2 pieces once and it was either surgery (nope) or just let it grow back together as it was ... I chose the latter ... Its a bone and at most you will have different shape on that side but nothing to worry about ... But you'll have range of motion with it after it heals ...
No MRI on the back? When I crushed my vertebrae, I had one and it showed the vertebrae, spinal canal and cord very well ... It seems that when I am inactive for a few days in a row is when I am reminded of the issue the most ... riding ~everyday is not an issue with it ...
Are you shorter? I also lost about an inch in height with the crushed vertebrae ... That was a little weird seeing people eye-to-eye that I was once taller than ...
Bike riding is very dangerous on many levels ...street, track and trails all have different inherent dangers ... streets are still the most dangerous in my opinion ... Bike riding and everything else in life is a risk ... How much risk you take is up to you decide .
And GPNF will be a good place to make your come back in SEPT

Well, today is 6 weeks from my unfortunate incident. I got to meet with the specialist today and they took a full set of xrays.
I got some great news! He gave me the all clear to do any activity I want! But... "I don't recommend motocross", I can live with that. This is earlier than I expected but based on the way I have been feeling it is exactly what I was hoping for!
Also got some not so good news, the bills are rolling in to the insurance, ouch! 28g for a couple night stay in a fancy electric bed.
My nephew is 8 and really thought it was rude of them for charging me to stay in the hospital when "he doesn't even remember being there"... I like that, do you think the hospital would buy it?
Almost went for a night ride tonight but have been working way too much since I was gone for a month, kinda backed up.
Looking forward to hitting the trails soon!

I showed him and one of my nurses the crash video on my phone yesterday, they seemed to really enjoy it for some strange reason. Then 2 minutes after they left another nurse came running in and wanted to see it. Morbid curiosity I guess.
I am headed for endurocross tomorrow, wish I would have waited until after my Dr appointment to make those plans. I would rather go riding.
