• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

JDay race report on a txc 310

I have sort of accepted the fact that the Husky won’t give me any hole shots due to the starting procedure, so I wasn’t too upset.

I was wondering about the same thing. Does everyone use the button in neutral? Or do some people kick it?
I get smoked on the line usually.

I tried to cut and paste the quote about starting the Husky on the line but it didn't paste.

Yay that was fun, and close for a change. You boys going to Monson, we could almost ride to that one !

Congrats on the Win and the 2nd place finishes ... And that was some pretty detailed reporting on the race action ...

How are you trying to start the bike? One of my 010 TCs, the one that uses oil, wants to have the throttle body lifted up about a 1\4" before it will start... The other 010 TC, the throttle play will not work ... Both usually start with 3 or less kicks BUT the kicks need to be from TDC or it is almost wasted a wasted kick.

He now starts in neutral with the e-start. More reliable. The odds of it starting with the kick are 1 out of 15...not good enough. With the e-start he can at least get out mid pack. It has gotten a little better over the last 2 weeks as we work on fine tuning the "ritual"

Yep, 1-15 kicks will keep you from walking, 1-5 is much better but not really for racing ... My bikes' issue was directly related to the cam with the auto-decompressor ... The second 010 TC250 I purchased had an additional newer cam come with it in the sale and when I put it in the hard-starter, it fixed the issue.

Estart as a saver? New w0rlld 0rder?

I'm gonna do a little testing with my bikes and NOT put them at TDC before kicking and see how they start ...

My bike will usually start 1-2 kicks from TDC. But if it doesn't fire up in 1 , you're screwed on a HS start.

One of the guys said he put's one finger on the kill the other on the start button, lifts the kill as the flag drops flag. The motor is spinning but not running. Back it up with the kick start just to be sure. Sounds like a whole lot of work but he gets good starts.

What ever you do, don't kick and e-start combined...this has been the cause of many of the starter issues/failures on the Husky. The sprague (sp?) clutch seems to weld itself to the flywheel...ask me how I know :)

Glad you told me that cause I been doing both.

Interesting hitting start button and hitting kill switch.
