  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

JD Tuner vs Leo Vince, race ECU & 12 port injector

Freaky

Husqvarna
AA Class
Thought I'd post my findings comparing the JD tuner against the Leo Vince full titanium exhaust, race ECU and 12 port injector. I've had my 2010 TE250 for 18 months and raced in around 15 enduro's. When I first got the bike it had the 'power up' kit fitted, I thought this meant it would be race ready, how wrong I was. The power was flat, it had a terrible bog off idle and would stall at every opportunity, it was basically un-racable. I read through this forum and many others were in the same situation. I dropped to a 12 tooth front sprocket and removed the baffle from the exhaust which helped a bit but it was stupidly loud, power was improved but the annoying bog and the tendency to stall was as bad as ever. I read that others had tried the JD tuner and had varying amounts of success in dealing with the bog so I purchased one and installed it. I managed reduce the bog and stall issues and the bike was actually quite competitive.
Just before Christmas I picked up a used Leo Vince pipe, race ECU and a 12 port injector for a bargain price, new they would set you back over £800, I paid £105. I fitted the bits and rode it for the first time today, it's like a different machine!! Gone are the bog and stalling, there is actually a decent amount of bottom end power, I can take corners in a higher gear without the need to clutch it to find some power high up the rev range. It revs so much cleaner and pulls strong from idle with no hiccups, I could catch a pal on a KTM250 2 stroke where he would usually pull away and lose me. This is basically how the bike should be. To have to spend £800 to get the bike to run how it should is wrong though, Husky must know this so doesn't look good on them. The JD tuner just masks the issues without actually solving the problem, I can't knock the unit because it did make my bike rideable but IMHO you are better off putting the money towards the full kit, it transforms the bike. Whether you are a racer, trail rider or desert rider, you will be amazed by the difference.
Bring on the new enduro season, I feel to trophies coming my way****************************************

Great to hear that, thanks for sharing. Although our bikes are much different, you~250 me~511 and our intended use is different, you~racer, me~trail rider it
sounds like we have similar issues. Glad to hear yours are resolved. My resolution arrived in the mail yesterday, I'm hoping..... My PC-V from Dynojet. I'll follow up
on this after I get it installed and dialed in.

I think it's due to the amount of restrictions the bikes have to have to pass emmission laws etc, the bikes are set up to run in this strangled state and it's only when you free them up they actually run like they should.

I'm going 12 tooth, txc ecu and 12 port on my 2010 te 250. Hope I have the same success as you..
You'll be amazed believe me, I think it's the ECU and injector that make the difference rather than the exhaust. Let us know how you get on.

Awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing this info! I have a 2011 TE 250 and noticed the same bogging and stalling. I will be looking into purchasing an ECU and injector now.

I had a 2010 250 and it had a 2011 CDI . It did bog sometimes . Fitting the Leo Vince system alone did eliminate this . It was also quieter and lighter . The bike also had a bigger throttle body which may have been part of the issue .
I now have a 310 with both the LV and race injector/CDI and TC air intake and its sweet:thumbsup:
