  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

JD Tuner vs Ibeat

Hi Guys,

I have a te 250 2011. Which is the better product? Ease of use, amount of things you change/do with the device and are they both something you can hook up to your computer.

My bike already has the power up mods. Would if make a difference unless i got and exhaust?

cheers

I just did the Ibeat when the bike got the power-up. that was Sept. 2011. Except for a Uptite muffler, the 2010 TE310 is stock. I also have the 4 hole injector. My bike runs real strong.

i also have the 12 hole injector and the uprated ecu. did you get the I beat from the dealer?

You can get the iBeat software and cable from SEMCO. They are reputable and nice to do business with. My order was delivered promptly after payment and the product was as advertised.

JD tuner will give you a bit more adjustments and based on my experience also gives you a richer settings (wasted gas, lower milage per tank). You can get the job done with IBeat however you will need to have a computer for changes. JD tuner is on the fly setting and you can adjust for different conditions as you come accross them on the trail. Personally if you get the 12 hole injector and the TXC ECU get IBeat otherwise JD tuner. Yes it makes a different, bigger difference if the PU was done without setting the EFI via IBeat. Better end result with 12 hole and ECU vs. just PU and JD tuner or IBeat. How much $$ is the only question you need to ask yourself?? $200 JD, $300 Ibeat or $600 Ibeat & 12 hole/ECU or $2000 Ibeat & 12 hole/ECU/exhaust.

I already have the 12 hole injector, and uprated ecu on the bike. The i beat is £400.00 from my dealer and the 6x jd tuner is around £200.00 once I've paid for post and tax. Seemss like the jd tuner is the better option. I just wanted to check there was no advantage in having the ibeat over the jd.

To use the JD you should have the Co's all set to 100. This is what JD program the tuner for so Ibeat or a dealer is still needed. Price is the big driving point when buying a JD tuner. Advantage to Ibeat is code reading, TPS setting and a couple of other small info items only seen thru Ibeat. In reality once the bike is tuned, no adjustments are needed. You can use Ibeat to tune other bikes and maybe make $50.

In my opinion, using iBeat to adjust the fuel mapping within the ECU is a better option than an upstream device that tricks the ECU by sending dummy sensor readings. iBeat will also do things a JD Tuner will not, such as TPS reset and diagnostics.
