  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

J-Train's 07 TE510 Build

J-train

Husqvarna
AA Class
I picked up this 07 TE510 a few months ago. It was in pretty rough shape but mechanically sound with around 5K miles on it. I picked it up as a weekend toy to tinker around with, something I could go anywhere on in. I live on Vandenberg AFB, the third largest Air Force Base in the world with much of the land bing issolated with plenty of trails fire roads that are most accessable if you are not acting stupid and not blazing new trails and on a liscenced vehicle (no OHV riding). Anyway I live about 2 miles from my work so it's the perfect commuter around base on too (double bonus)
I have aquite a tendancy to go crazy wtih my builds and buy a bunch of stuff I really don't need, but don't we all. Any way thought I would doccument my buid, the bike probably won't be the hard core dual sport adventure ride like a lot of you are into, I don't plan on going through more than one tank of gas for any given ride probably. More of a play bike build I guess, but it will certainly look pretty trick with some cool bling and hard parts. So I will start by a few pics of how I got it after a little cleaning.

Had a chance to do some cleaning and install a few essentials. Mostly small stuff so far, but a big improvement over the way it looked when I got it.
Mods: Replaced BajaDesigns old school light and shroud with a Polisport Halo
Pro Taper bar
Pro Taper roost gaurds that double as rear view mirrors
Pro Grip dual compound grips
UFO Front Fender
UFO Rear Enduro Fender w/LED light
Mini LED turn signals
Guts Gripper seat (I kept this from the previous owners mods)
Not shown is a new set of OEM Number plates and tank shrouds with a moto-extreme graphics kit, I may or may not install (not sure if I want that boy racer look or not)
Besides this a lot of elbow grease has got the bike looking respecatable.

Graphics kit installed. I know the Monster crap is played out, but I kinda wanted to tie my favorite color into the bike, Kawi green. I do drink about 4 Monsters a day though, lol. (Only the Zeros) I am not sure I am crazy about how busy it turned out, but it was the first major graphics kit I had did, a lot of fun and tunred out pretty good.

Some stuff I have on order as we speak that will be the next round of mods.

Red BRP chain tensioner, TM Designs red rollers, line green o ring chain, Supersprox red sproket, Hyde Skid Plate, red billet fuel vent, red fork bleeders

The bike looks great. I can't beleive how clean that 07 is! Tell me about the mirrors in the handguards. Do they come that way? I need to get a rear fender for my 450, what do you like of the quality of the plastic and the light?

Thanks, the bike was denaiatly not that clean when I got it, but it was from an older gentleman that rode it quite a bit offroad, but mostly just fireroads I suspect, it had not been down a whole lot, just drops. The mirrors in the handgaurds were just a idea I had, they are blindspot mirrors mounted with extreme duty 3M mounting tape. They are just the right angle that you get a view under neath the bars so you could make out a bike or car in your path, however at speed the vibrations really blur the view. I have them on there more for legality reasons. Same thing for the turn signals. The front faring is nice, pretty decent light output, however I never plan on riding off road or more than a few miles at night. The look is way cooler than stock or the baja designs that was on there before. The rear UFO fender same thing, howerver the LED strip is quite brighter than I thought it would be, I also like the white fender mudflap.

Installed my new Hyde Skid Plate, Outlaw Billet fuel cap breather, and chopped the stock can bacause I was bored and have a Leo X3 on order,
I also have a lime green o ring chain, red stealth supersprox, and BRP chain guide, and Dunlop MX51s yet to install.

That thing looks better than my 2012. I like it lots! My 511 is really a playbike for me also, but on these bikes
It's very serious play...

Thanks James , you hit the nail on the head about "serious play" This thing has way more stonk in it than all but the pro rider would ever need. I can equate it nicely to my sport bikes that are way more than anyone would ever need for the street, but I love America where we are still free to own things "just because"......Merica!!!

Anybody got any ideas for a kickstand that is not total shit and about 4" longer? Something not 1 1/2" in diamater might be nice too.

Look what showed up in the mail today! Leo Vince Full Titanium X3 Exhaust. Exhaust's for this bike are getting harder to find, if you can find anything at all. I saw this gem pop up on ebay and jumped. It was on a 450SM so it had not seen dirt, so I knew it would be strait. I did quite a bit of sanding with my handy "mouse" and a red scrubby and it cleaned up real nice. Installing was a major PITA, I had to remove both shock bolts so I could get a little play to clear the shock reservoir. Believe I need to contact Leo and check on the satus of the the Spark Arrestors in their mufflers. There is definately not one right at the tip, but the canister is stamped, NFS SA equiped, so maybe it's like the stock canister and internal. Anyway, I will celan up the thing this weekend and take some proper pics after my saturday ride.

I may be interested in you old can. Did it make it a lot louder cut down? I may need to look on ebay and see if I can find a whole new exhaust. Yours looks sweet! Did you notice any power difference? One more thing...did you weight the difference between the stock and the titanium exhaust?

Swampds, cutting the stock muffler did not make a huge difference in sound, maybe a littl louder on top. I wanted to keep all the stamped information intact, so I cut from the inlet end. Took one mount off and moved it to the bottom mount. The Leo is quieter than stock but fuller and deeper if that makes sense. Weight difference is 2-3 lbs probably

Cleaned the bike up this afternoon after a nice ride. Anyone have any idea on a easy way to recondiditon the spokes on my wheels? They have an aweful lot of corosion on them. The Nipples and the rims look fine, but hte spokes look pretty bad.
