  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

I've Just purchased a 2008 TE 450.

My 2 cents: 2008 was the first year the had efi, and it was not tuned perfectly - from the factory it was really rich running if I recall correctly. But other than that it was as stone cold reliable as the earlier models.

Hopefully someone else will give their input as well. :)

The 08's have some differences than the O9-10s: ECU and exhaust are the 2 main ones.
ECU: tuning with Ibeat is limited (FB1 Setting versus CO1,2,3)
Exhausts: aftermarket focused on 09-10 version and the 08s were left with limited options, and can't use the 09-10 exhaust without replacing the midpipe.

some other changes exsisted too: Scott Summers addressed many here http://www.dirtrider.com/features/protips/141_0904_dr_dirt_scott_summers_husqvarna_setup_tips/

Great bikes- my buddy has a 08TE510 and loves it- I have a 09TE450 and love that and they are very similar.

Much appreciated

The engines are bullet proof. They are a particularly strong motor, best described as linear with a good bottom eng and great mid. They do bebfit from a pipe if a little more bottom end is needed. If you are heavyish then the bike would benefit from fork and shock spring upgrades.

I bought one at the beginning of the year and i was abit apprehensive as people were talking about it being the first ecu ect... But apart from it being half de-restricted causing a flat spot and the normal fuel pump sliding up the tank problem i'm well chuffed with it. I've covered over a 1000 miles off road this year and its very capable machine. has more grunt than all of the bikes i ride with Gas gas 300 2t, CFR450 ect... check my threads for details on the two issues i had. but a great bike.
