• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

It's OK to look at craigslist sometimes...

Cool Bike.

(My first bike was 1967 125 kawi Touring bike. 2 stroke and e-start.)

Back then, a 350 was a big bike to have in High School.

Nice find Kelly. Is that a Big Bear?

I think it is called a 1968 Yamaha YR2C 350 Scrambler :excuseme: Might have a name too. Before today I knew nothing about them :D

Cool!

I'll show this to a guy at work.
He restores bikes of this era and specializes in Yamaha 2 stroke twins. He gets engines sent to him from all over the place. Maybe he can provide some info.

Different tank and fenders.

Yeah it's a bit different, the picture I posted was a '65 model and only a 250. I'm not sure if they were still calling them Big Bears by '68.

Nice find!
Here's an R5, the immediate predecessor of the RD350....

I had an R5 way back.... It was one of my first street bikes. They handled pretty nice in their day. I also had an H1 Mach III (Kawasaki), an evil handling bike, but with a more FUN powerband than the R5.

I had a GT550 3 cylinder 2 smoke last year but did not care for it. Doubled my money on the sale though. I don't buy used stuff unless I come out ahead in the end (good deals)

Norman I had a chocolate brown RD 250,same year bought new,the last new bike I bought before my 05 TE 250,30 years later.I owned it for a year and used to hang my helmet on what I thought was a helmet hook under the seat, then one day I discovered it was the 2 stroke oil dip stick,I started to read manuals after that.

I've always loved the RD's right up to the very cool RZ350. But this bike has extra style. The tank, the seat, the pipes, the cool huge gauge with the built in tach, just oozes cool. I had to have it.

Super slim, low, light. My wife got home a little bit ago and tried to claim it.
