• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

IT's BAAAACK!

Just as I figured, the main jet was too lean at 330. Previous owner must have run a very rich fuel mixture. It was all good until top end, then fuel starve bog. Swapped in a 340 and took it for another spin. That woke her right up. Then it was time for a ride. It was great to ride the bike again! Only took a few miles and a couple of minor adjustments to get used to drum brakes again. Fiddled with the pilot air screw a little and after about 6 miles it was time to turn her over to her new rider. Plug looked like a lightly baked chocolate cookie so it was ready for my honey.

Here's a shot from our second ride. I am very impressed with the pairing. The girls were like peas n carrots together. We took a few intermediate trails and ended the ride with a black diamond. My girl and the ole IT are gonna be great together. By the end of the day she could start it with one, two kicks!20140928_160755.jpg

Back home and ready for a bath! We got around 40 miles in today and it was awesome to ride with my girl. Got some video on the Go pro but haven't even watched it yet. Will try and throw a couple of clips together this week.20140928_185729.jpg

glad it all worked out well. GOOD JOB!!

Looks as good as when you took it over in 1990 when I got the KDX.

I guess it's good that I grew some since then. If I hadn't I never would be able to ride my 449, makes the IT seem short.

Ahhh the 80's.

LOL, I need a stool to start it, & to get on it, or off it (comfortably). When I was younger I could swing my leg over it. But not anymore.....that would hurt more than I already hurt.

Finally conquered those in my teens. They're all closed off now. Felt like a stud when I could finally make it. Dad busted out the old photo album last weekend and there were pix of when I finally made it when I took over the IT in 1990 I think.

The old girl is still teaching school...20150418_143414.jpg

It's been a long time since the Marine had been in the dirt. We did 50+ miles yesterday and he went from putting around camp to get used to the bike to sand washes, intermediate trails and proudly proclaiming max speed in 6th gear.
