• Hi everyone,

    As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

    When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

    Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

    Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

    Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

p.s. roads close an hour before parctice open breefly inbetween seniour and junior races for half hour or so then marshells raidio all clear lap car checks and game on again.
its the center of the track thats a batch to get to but there is a tunnle linking the two, only one mind in douglas. you can just about get around the outter edge of the track not touching the course from kirkmichael to the south of the island you cant. oh an its a bank holiday due to interruptions any race days they have off an no school same for manx gp.

Until a few years back they used to have 'Mad Sunday' where anyone could ride the entire track on any bike with no speed limits but there were too many deaths hence why it is now only permissable on the mountain section. Still the most dangerous motorcycle race in the world.

Freaky or any other locals or semi locals, is there any way we can get a sort of break down as to what happens in that two weeks? Any special events that go on besides the race that should not be missed?

Fasteer posted the home link above and it has a trip planer, but I guess I am looking for and insiders guide as well. Greedy bloke aren't I!
 
I sent that video to a buddy of mine I used to race superbikes with. He raced the TT back in the 80's and his comment on the video was "I can't believe I used to do that $#*t"!!! the best part for me was the POV with the sound of the bike. The feeling of what it's like to travel at those speeds is well represented.

its a whole island buddy. what floats your boat theres laxy wheel, steam train, electric trams, long walks pubs, soo many pubs check out http://www.visitisleofman.com/whatson/events.aspx the tt races are hectic and mad sunday was awesome youve got to understand people die there every year and the police are hotting up on speeding and recruit extra officers from england and wales to enforce their law :(
but there are loads of greenlaners there and a few short searches will set you up with local rideout guides.
locals hire out their empty rooms to make money. its a whole island wide party! for two weeks.
i can and will answer most questions but if your interested in going for the tt its a trip you will not forget or be dissapointed with.
p.s. the proper fun is side cars those guys are freaking insaine!
 
This really makes me want a sportbike again. I always dreamed of doing this race and still hope to. My life is far from over so it may happen :). Even just attending would be amazing. I guess I should start with the pikes peak hillclimb first lol. Really cool, thanks for the video. Keep in mind that if you can't find it on tv they sell the DVD every year with the interviews and behind seems footage

Greenlaners, if I have got the term correctly, is mild off-road riding, is that right?
Can u tell more about it?
Enough terrain to keep entertained on a dirt bike for a few days?
Bike hire?
 
not entirly sure about bike hire on the busyest season on the events calender.
yes greenlaning is english way of offroad riding but all bikes have to be street legal, there is plenty to keep you busy for a few days and definatly enough for a year or so.
unfortuently due to ramblers in the uk complaining about us riders we are facing closures of our lanes, the isle of man has the exception as almost all of the wilderness is ridable they have enduro events year round im posative you can hire a guide.. weather or not they supply the bike too? and if they arent booked up already i would be very suprised ad b+b's are booked a year ahead so are ferry tickets if your serious it may be worth looking into it all this year to price up for next...
