• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Is this a review of our future 2014/15? TXC/FE? 250

The street legal dirt bikes are what sells in a lot of places due to limited trail access and the need to connect trails via roadways. Our local dealer probably wont be one for long if they go that route. Those are the bikes that sell here. The 310 dual sport being the most popular bike in the line up.

The new england enduro flyers generally seem to call out what they will inspect for, sound, headlight, registeration watever. The ones over in Ohio basically say the rider is supposed to be legal and leave it at that. Maybe you are one of the guys entering enduros on dealer plates which the rules allow but I think isn't fair. Even for turkey run or dual sport ride chances are the trend will be up to the rider to comply with all rules for the road section. It remains to be seen how husqvarna is positioned, like you wish or going head on against the big four Japanese.

The plate is icing on the cake for many. There is a difference between a race bike with a plate and a DS bike. Many would love plate is for nothing else to hit some road between trails to make loops. Plated race bikes is what sold MANY huskys and KTMs int he past. I see nothing wrong with that. They do need to offer two versions though like the TXC and TE. Choices are good IMHO.

Is this a review of our future? The answer is no. The new 250 has dramatically changed from the one listed above. The first 5 lines of that article are no more. ;)

I still bet the only street legal bikes will be the 350 and 500 as they are the only motors that KTM has homologated for EPA approval. There wont be a 250 or 300F street legal bike from the new Husky.

That's an excellent question, especially because the KTM 500 exc's engine is entirely different from the FE501. In order to make an FE501 emissions legal would drastically change the performance to levels closer to a 449, even if the SAS valve were added.
