  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Is It Possible To Start The 2009 Te250 Without A Key?

So, I drove all the way out to the desert today, ready to go dirtbiking, only to realize once I got here that I forgot my keys!! Is there anything I can do to get it running? Time is of the essence, im in the desert as you read this. Anything to help would be greatly appreciated!

The ignition Switch is a Double Pole Switch- meaning it turns on and off 2 circuits.
George would know- but if you don't get him I think I have you covered:

If you are just out there in the desert- you could cut the wires and splice the ignition/power together and shut the bike on and off with the right hand switch. If you are riding off road only- you could just ignore the dc circuit and leave it- no big deal.

Here's your wires:
Yellow Sky Blue- ignition
Brown White-ignition
Brown -dc circuit (leave alone If you choose)
Yellow Black-dc circuit (leave alone if you choose)

SO what I would do is find a good place to splice the Yellow/Skyblue to the Brown/White wire and you are set. The bike will start but the "night light: headlight, the odo, and the tail light won't light up like it would with the key'd double pole switch- no big deal-

I have looked into it a bit and the past and just referanced my schematic..
another thread- but without colors- http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/anyone-ditch-the-key.12037/#post-114973

GOOD LUCK TRDOLLARHYDE:thumbsup:

I know it's a little late, but if you can get to the plug for the key socket, you can just use a small piece of wire to jump the 2 hot wires together and not have to cut your wires. Don't it a few times myself................remove the jumper when you get your keys.
