  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

125-200cc is it ever too late to own a WR125?

Will do Mr Juicy!

justin.....I know, horrible huh...haha. Again, Ill be able to ride this 125 in the local area...only 40 mins to ride. So I will be getting this one dirtier, but never beat on....gotta keep them nice. :)

Hopefully someone can help me with the tire stuff above, trying to place an order, but don't want to if not an ideal tire for me, most concerned with rear tire here??

Also, with a Lectron for this bike now in current stock form, is it the same setup used on a 165/167, or do I need to change metering rods or whatever in the Lectron to get it to run right, once I go with more displacement in the future? Just checking, so I understand.

Ryan,
I'd say don't go too big on the tires.... The stock Michelin 120/90-18, is the same as a 100/100-18. I always ran Michelin S12, 120/90-18's on my '02 and '09 WR125's I don't like a big rear on a 125, as it slows down handling and saps power. The small rear tire, helps it be flickable. My US spec '15 TE125, came with a Dunlop AT-81, 110/100-18, instead the Euro spec Michelin Enduro Comp, 120/90-18. I rode it with that tire and then a Michelin AC10, 100/100-18 (4mm carbide studs), for the winter. I just switched back to the Dunlop and the handling feels slower to me. I switched to Kenda's a few years ago and I'll be putting a Washougal 100/100-18 on the TE125 soon.

Enjoy that pretty little bike!:oldman:

the metering rod is the only part you really change in a lectron, will have to let the small bore guys chime in about if the the same rod covers all of em, but thats the sweet part. no jets, needles, needle jets, air jets, or slides to swap out. just different metering rods.

Thanks Norman! Appreciate the feedback.

On the tires, here is what is said about the S12's:

  • Rubber compound improves durability by at least 25-30% compared to previous Michelin offroad tires
  • Larger diameter beads and thicker bead filler area help make sidewalls more rigid for improved feedback
  • Additional thin casing ply under the tread helps improve traction and feel, and speeds warm-up time
  • Excels in a wide variety of conditions from soft mud to loose dirt
  • Tall, narrow knobs for mud penetration
Will this tire hold up against the hard packed/rocky stuff up in my local mountains, along with some of the desert like stuff I'll take it to? Interesting the michelin tires sizing is different.

Thanks Justin, hopefully that's all that it is...just in case I need to land one of those sooner than later, if I end up having too much pain with this thing, from the 3-6k foot level.

S12 is not a good choice for the conditions you describe. In Michelin tires, a Comp Enduro or AC10 would probably hold up better. M12 might be a good choice. AC10 for some reason, have conventional, not typical Michelin sizing.

you get the first lectron installed yet? need to see it in that 360!

negative. I have so many projects going on all at once, between all the research time I'm spending on each, I'm not getting a chance to get things installed.

My 410 is just about done, maintenance and upgrades wise, then Ill jump on the 360/125 next. I'm also doing some upgrades on my quad right now too. I think I started too many projects at once or overlapping too much, to get any one thing done, haha. :banghead: There are (3) car and offroad SUV projects going on right now too, LOL

After starring more closely at the 125, I see some oil on one of the fork tubes and two very small tears in the intake ducting between filter and carb, but not sure they're all the way through really. So, just ordered up the intake boot and new coolant hoses, some new front brake pads, just to be sure.

Looks like Ill be taking either all (3) to Zip Tys for suspension work, or just (2) for now, but now the 125 is definitely going there in the first group. And dang, I'm fat @220 lbs, def squatting the rear more than desired. Gonna have to address that at ZipTy too.

Rob, I think it is too late for you to get into the 125 with all of those other projects, you should just send it north to me and I can take care of sorting it out in just a few thousand miles.

I have a yz125 and a Suzuki 144, both are really fun to ride. When I ride either one of them and then get back on my wr250 I tend to wring the 250's neck a lot more than usual. I've decided to sell both 125/144 and move on to my next projects so if you'd like to put two more irons in the fire the pm me.
