  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Is an EFI programmer available for the 2013 TE310R?

That is the typical way I hear it happening - probably easier that keeping a manual around. The point is, that isn't the right way. For those that choose a DIY, there is significant risk if you ride in an area that sees frequent policing. There are lots of officers that know their jobs and they are not going to poke a rod in the pipe (seems odd in text...). They go right to the regulation.

Rest assured, if you have a pipe made by any major maker, and the maker claims spark arrest - you are good. Now, if one runs "Uncle Vick's Loud Pipes r' Us" - all best are off no matter what it reads and what gets poked in the pipe!

Around here, they have started impounding the vehicle pending legal resolution - sort of a hefty bond if you ask me.
Copy that!

I'll venture the Ranger is checking for a modified muffler regardless of manufacturer certification which is exactly what the DB Killer is. Back to the catalytic converter. That appears to be a significant restriction, maybe 25 per cent. Would that work?

+1 for G2 product. They are a pleasure to deal with and the quality of the product is outstanding. They made me a longer throttle tube so I didn't have to cut my foam rally grips that I love!

I run a 400 cam on my 525 EXC and for tricky, off camber, snotty situations it is a must in my opinion. Actually, the G2 product will enhance your control on any technical situations that require finesse with the throttle. For anyone, I don't care who you are....

Bottom line is the G2 only affects less than 50% throttle openings, after 50% throttle opening you are back to stock anyways, so if you want to go fast you can still do it!

There are some pretty expensive ways to transform bikes. I have several riding buddies that have G2's and were all trying to fix one ailment or another. ALL were very happy and with a little fine tuning got what they were looking for. I had one for a while on a twitchy two stroke and the "trail" cam made a world of difference - the throttle control was significantly improved.

Thank you all for the recommendation for the G2 Throttle Tamer. This is a great product that was easy to install, and seems to take the jerky-jerky out of the initial light switch respocivness on my 2014 TE310R. Amazing to have such good advise and expertise on this forum. A B I G thank you! :0)

On the '13 models, you can fit a map switch - check out the wiring diagrams for ECU pin-outs.
Map 1 is stock, Map 2 is detuned.

My (UK) dealer fitted one for me when the bike was new. I can't say I can really tell any difference between the two maps though.
The question is; some say that you can switch maps on the fly, others say that you have to select the map prior to starting the engine . . . . .

as for the "detune" and making it less racy- why not try changing the gearing- 'gearing it up' so it revs slower and is less responsive. This may have additional benefits as a "trail bike": cruise speeds at lower revs.

I have the (50) tooth on the rear already. Still, I am impressed how good a change the G2 throttle tamer is. I was not convinced, but after reading all the positive feedback I saw on the forum- I got one. VERY pleased with it!
