  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

Iridium Plugs on a TE511

Bankso

Husqvarna
A Class
Just a quick question,

Firstly can you get an Iridium plug for my bike and what sort of gains (if any) should I expect to see/not see.

Thanks in advance
Gav.

I don't have a 449/511 but it appears your stock plug is a CR9EKB (from a spec sheet) which is a dual ground plug- those work very well in my experience. They probably picked a good plug already... but Iridium has its advantages: generally they last longer and are more consistant due to being less likely to get fouled. I run one and found it worked better longer.
you can go to NGK and cross refferance for yourself here: http://www.ngk.com/default.asp
Here's what I found: (simular specs in an iridium as stock)
CR9EKB (stock plug)
Multi-Ground Plug, 10mm Thread Size, 19mm (3/4") Reach, 5/8" (16mm) Hex Size, Gasket Seat, Resistor, Projected Tip, Solid Terminal Nut, Dual Ground Electrodes, .031" (0.8mm) Gap, Heat Range 9
$6.68

CR9EIX (possible Iridium replacement/ double check for yourself)
Iridium IX Plug, 10mm Thread Size, 19mm (3/4") Reach, 5/8" (16mm) Hex Size, Gasket Seat, Resistor, Removable Terminal Threads, Fine Wire (0.6mm) IridiumCenter Electrode, Tapered CutGround Electrode, .031" (0.8mm) Gap, Heat Range 9.
$7.83

I found the following and I must confess it is not scientific but intuitive based findings.
Starts better in cold mornings,
Do not foul
Last longer
better mpg

thanks for the replies guys. Food for thought and a path Im heading towards I think just for the extra lifespan.

Hey Gav, if possible can you post which plug you go for? I'll be replacing my stock plug soon and I'm thinking of going for an Iridium plug also.

NGK CR8EGP (platinum) is the plug I run ...Stock heat range 8 (I think) ... I'm gonna try to find a 9 heat range to maybe help my bike run a little cooler ...

Out of the 4 reasons below, only the last 2 might matter to me ... And maybe only the last as the normal plugs last a very long time on a 4t machine ...

Do not foul
